Miscellaneous day...................

I tend to go out when it is just past sunset and start taking photos.  I bought a little 6 pack of assorted color petunias and planted them in a pot near my mailbox.

I staked some of my spindly tomato plants yesterday, the volunteer Sungold mostly.  They will become big heavy plants so I thought they needed some help.

A quick rain storm went through in the middle of the afternoon yesterday and when I went out to check the rain gauge I saw a lot of blooms on the Yellow Coneflower.

Only one tenth of an inch of rain, but I'm happy for at least that much.

The plant is small, maybe a little over 12" tall and very sturdy.  It doesn't get much of the rain, being so close to the house but it does well in spite of that.  I do water it occasionally when we are in a long dry spell.

I showed this volunteer Tiger Lily growing in the crack between the sidewalk and the steps a while ago and I'm going to pull it out when it is done blooming.

My front garden is very neglected as I deal with my sciatica and back problems.  I pull a few weeds each time I'm out, but it needs a lot more work.

I have company stopping by today on their way through this area.  I might get some more 16 patch blocks sewn tonight.  Tomorrow will be my second PT session.

Oh weeding is really hard on your back, Wanda--be cautious...
Those little yellow cone flowers are so pretty--a nice buttery yellow...
76 her at 6:30 a.m.!! The weather people say that tomorrow this heat wave will break with cooler temps and dew points--hope so.
Hugs, julierose

Your petunias are pretty, as are the coneflowers. Glad you are on the rain radar again!

Volunteer flowers are such fun surprises! Hope the storms yesterday afternoon and evening weren't too bad. (Okay here.)

Hope PT helps quickly and you can get some relief. I love your sturdy little yellow cornflower plant.

The weather in Sheboygan was very stormy about the time we were out for dinner. The worst of it was to our west.

glad you got at least a little rain, better than none. Mike says I am growing grass and weeds this year instead of tomatoes - that is the truth, I have cut all my tomatoes but one plant back to 6 inches or so as something has been eating the plants and destroyed them this year - sure it is the big green caterpillar that blends in so well with the plant as I could not find any - I left one plant as it has tomatoes on them but two of them had bottom rot on them and threw them out I will wait and see what happens to the rest of them. Hope your PT helps a lot!

Sorry the sciatica is slowing you down and you're wise not to aggravate it by weeding!
Is that some sort of maple growing next to the volunteer Tiger Lily?
Yesterday I laid out the scrappy SIC blocks on the guest bed and reckon the baby quilt will be about 50" square when sewn together.

Hugs!

The weeding is just about impossible to keep up with! I have a bed that is a total wreck. I was hoping for the perfect combination of cooler weather and rain so that I could get to it. It just popped into my head this thought - I wonder if you called the Girl Scouts or Boy Scouts and ask if they are doing in service projects this summer. Maybe they could send over a couple of scouts to help weed and earn a service badge.

Oh my, I am right there with you about back problems. My whole left side is a wrinkled mess of pain. I stand there and look at what I should do with the garden and when I move, my body says, Nice try.
