I negotiated a deal with my friend Mary, who visited yesterday and sent her home with some fabrics. This is the third time they have visited me on the way home from WI. We sorted my large Kaffe scraps while she chose some for herself. I wanted to separate out the narrow strips and small pieces that had made their way into the overflowing box and cut several size squares, 2" and 2.5" for sure and maybe one larger size. I already have lots of 6.5" squares cut. I need to check my 3" and 4" component boxes and see if I need to cut either of those sizes.
I pulled a few more Marcia Derse fabrics for the 16 patch blocks but haven't cut them yet.
I also sorted my green fabrics into types of green and this is the gray/green bunch. I could easily pass on ever using them, but then I think about soft apricots and pinks with them and they might have possibilities. I'm not sure I need to make 'that' quilt though.
This is just another view of the same fabrics. Click on the photo for a closer look.

I would gladly pay admission just to come play in your scraps! Wouldn't have to gift me a thing. Just to be able to see touch and play with the pretty combos. Sigh
Nice colors...I really need to get busy!

Always fun to see a pile of Kaffe scraps. Great deal for Mary!
Lucky Mary! I love that gray/green bunch.
I love those "earthy" fabrics ;)))--good for you sorting stuff--I need to get my stash back in order everything is all pulled about...I will tackle one color at a time as I have them sorted by color family--and really not so sure I like that--I used to have them in fabric type (flowers, novelties, etc) groupings...decisions decisions...
76 here with a 63 dew point--feels a bit cooler...
Hope your upcoming weekend is a comfortable one...
hugs, Julierose
What was the deal? Come visit me and I will give you some fabric? LOL!! I jumped on the opening when someone's blog I read said she was running out of string pieces. Stuffed a box and mailed them; I already had her address. Passed on a half of a big bin of strings that have been sitting for years! I should have used a bigger box and sent them all! LOL!!!
I think apricots and those greens would be gorgeous. Would like to see those together. Just a suggestion
I imagine Mary smiled all the way home and likely ran her fingers through those delicious scraps!
Yes, those greens would be wonderful with apricot, pink, and perhaps a bit of black?
Today I'll rearrange the baby 9 patches before sewing them in pairs. I use Mary Ellen Hopkins' method of sewing pairs (neighbors), sewing pairs into across the street neighbors, then sewing those four blocks together into neighborhoods, etc. When you sew your blocks like this, there is only one seam to be sewn that goes either the length or width of the quilt. It's like magic!
Storms likely this evening.
Hugs!
Your quilt garden grows like your outside gardens, full of plants that grow into glorious blossoms.
I'm glad Mary had a chance to visit - she is one of my blogging friends too and I new she was going to Wisconsin how nice you got a visit!
What could be better than sorting such awesome pieces? Kind of like panning for gold.
