Checking out an idea...................

This is the idea I had for the Kaffe rectangles and Brandon Mably's Gameboard fabric.  I have seen this done with different dimensions for the pieces and I think longer rectangles might look better, but this is what I have already cut, so I need to use it.  I only got 110 B&W squares out of the yard of fabric that I had.  I had figured I needed 150 for a quilt 54" x 75".  I have another of his black and white fabrics called Chips that I could possible mix into the outside edge blocks.  These pieces will come down off the design wall to play with next month.

I put the flannel baby quilt on the design wall for its portrait.  It is 39" square and has Hobbs 80/20 batting in it.  It is quilted in a crosshatch pattern with ecru thread.

The backing is the same flannel fabric as the border.  I will consider this a baby boy quilt when I put it in the baby quilt pile, trying to keep a good balance between boy and girl.  I realize this one would be a nice girl quilt too so I might still end up short on boy quilts.

Here is an update on the sidewalk crack Tiger Lily.  Three more buds to open and then it gets pulled out.

This is the most blooms I have ever had on the yellow Coneflower.  There are a couple more to open.  Last year lots of the flowers were drying up before the rest of them bloomed.

If you look closely you will see buds forming on the Compact Flare Hydrangea.  It had a partial bloom last year.  There are several buds this year so I'm hopeful that I'll see the color range on them this year.

I love how black and white print looks with bright colors. The baby quilt is really pretty - love the border/backing and the binding. Looks like your plants/flowers are doing well with the rain, but I'll miss your sidewalk lily. :D I've not heard of a Compact Flare Hydrangea, looking forward to seeing the color.

The Kaffe and Brandon fabric is stunning together. I hope the other black and white fabric will work.

I feel bad for the beautiful lily…..three more and you’re out. You are better than my husband who would have pulled long ago :-( The b/w checks make my eyes cross, lol. Since the flannel quilt works well for either a boy or girl, putting it in the boy pile to even them out is what I’d do.

Love that gameboard fabric with the bright prints. Looking forward to seeing it come together.

Maybe you could pull the tiger lily now and have the cut lillies inside for a bit. Their pollen could be messy, though you’d get some close up flower enjoyment. Love both quilts! -Roxanne

I love your idea for the game board fabric and florals. . . Baby quilt ~ I agree it will work for boy or girl . Plaids make a neat and tidy quilt every time. ~ Pretty blooming flowers ~ even your lilies and tree that will only be a memory soon.

the yellow coneflower looks so good - it is so full and pretty. I always like black/white fabric but have to be careful with some of them as they actually make me dizzy at times as odd as that sounds - something to do with motion sickness I guess which I get easily.

I love the baby plaid quilt. The border and binding are absolutely the icing on the cake. Perfect.

I really like your Kaffe idea. It is so striking! And the flannel quilt turned out so pretty, and that it's good for boy or girl is just a plus. You are doing a good job of laying up gifts!

I love your Kaffe fabric bricks with those black and white squares. Yummy! And the golden yellow coneflower is so lovely. I’m missing my pale lavender coneflower bloom as I’m stuck inside for now, but I plan to pick up some more vivid colors of echinacea for next year’s garden.
