If you read yesterday's post, you know I miscut a strip and was short one segment for a 16 patch block. I briefly thought about just forgetting about that block, but I'm going for 120 blocks so I really needed it. I don't like chunks cut out of my yardage. I guess that is a leftover feeling from having worked at quilt shops and always having a clean edge on yardage. I cut 2 squares out of each of the 2 fabrics and finished piecing the block.
I finished another dishcloth last night. It is not as dark as it looks here, a much prettier red.
We got a tenth of an inch of rain yesterday and south of Interstate 80 they got 4" - 5". We can watch the radar on Weatherbug on our phones and watch the storms split and fall apart as they approach us. I really thought we were going to get a good amount of rain yesterday.
I will do my monthly recap as soon as I get a photo of the Kaffe quilt I finished in July.

I agree about chunks cut out of larger fabric pieces--disappointing to find...I try not to do this but rather even just tear off a complete strip so that the rest will be useable...
Still warm here this early morning--72 with 71 DP--hoping that cold front makes it here today...
Pretty dishcloth...nice red & white...;)))

I don't like chunks either and will do almost anything to avoid them. Storms tend to split before they arrive at our location, it is very frustrating!
Now you have to remember when you go to design another quilt out of MD fabric, this piece has a hunk missing. I have been finding a few fabrics with missing chunks myself. Since I am making more scrappy quilts lately, I just use the piece up and something else if need be. The red dishcloth is very pretty!
Hoo-ray you saved the block of fabric… no one will ever see that mended cut in the quilt. I’m assuming you gift many of your dish cloth’s ? Of course you always knit such fun colorful ones.
So glad you could save that fabric by adding back to it! That will never be noticed with the exuberant colors in the rest of the quilt.
Love the red dishcloth! Do you knit and/or crochet?
Hugs!
I tend to cut full strips rather than chunks - but I've been known to do both (grin). Being a scrappy quilter makes it easier to tolerate the missing pieces.
we had such a short sprinkling of rain the other day that I didn't realize we had any until I glanced out the window and saw a little bit of wet patches out on the deck - it was drying fast from the heat. Cooler today only 90 so far tomorrow and 4-5 days will be in the 80's
Here in Woodridge we've been getting quite a bit of rain, so we must be benefiting from that split you mentioned. It comes in spurts and when it rains its torrential ... But doesn't last long for the most part. We've had a couple all night storms but nothing dangerous. Its incinerator hot and dry in between and I'm afraid I may have lost our white rose bush out back. Meanwhile the weeds continue to grow as in that movie Jumanji. I've surrendered on that front as I can't handle this heat and have had heat exhaustion/stroke twice already this month.

I don't like chunks cut out of my fabrics either, but it sure happens a lot.
