I think it is going to be impossible to get a true contrast photo of these blocks. The camera wants to emphasize the light/dark contrast and in reality, it is much more blendy, closer to yesterday's photo. This is one of each of the 32 unique blocks, so there are 64 completed at this time.
Here are the 6 new combinations (daylight photo).
The tallest volunteer Sunflower is a full bloom now. I see I didn't catch it before a bug ate holes in one of the petals. This one is about 4 feet tall.
The smaller sunflower is about 3 feet tall and the top petals haven't opened up yet.
Turning just to the left of the small Sunflower, the Black-eyed Susan blooms have started in the back garden now. Lots of Creeping Bellflower is still blooming along with some Purple Coneflowers. The 2" of rain gave them the boost they were needing.
The first Tiger Lily bloomed in this back garden too and soon there will be lots of orange back there.
It was a beautiful day yesterday with lower humidity and only about 82 degrees. It was a little warm to have windows open but it was the last chance before the heat and humidity return.

Cheery sunflowers you've got there, Wanda...so pretty!!
You've gotten halfway there with your 16 patch blocks--nice work
on the latest ones too...:))) I like the colors.
76 already here at 8 a.m...We're waiting for a cooler, no rain in sight day for our front walk guys to come and do the final seal on their masonry--so far no luck with these temps and pop up showers in our area...
Hugs for a good week Julierose
You were 6 degrees cooler than we were - quite unusual for July, right? Your flowers look to be thriving, so pretty. Your sunflower looks great! My volunteers seem to have something called "mosaic virus" with yellow splotches on the leaves. I have a new-to-me sunflower blooming called Chocolate Cherry. it is pretty, but it has more yellow in it than the photo on the seed packet!
The 16 patch blocks look like a reflection of your garden! Both are so pretty.
Your 16 patch block are looking wonderful together and I look forward to seeing any more combinations you'll mix in so the quilt is the size you want it to be.
Lovely garden blooms and the rain is just what those gorgeous flowers needed!
We may have more rain this evening, overnight, and tomorrow to go with the 7.5" we've already had. Yesterday we had lots of afternoon thunder but no rain.
Hugs!
the second photo the blocks look more blended then the first so I'm sure it is lighting that is not getting true contrast. Love the sunflower I saw a photo on line of someone who had one grow from seed when she threw them last year and it was 13 feet tall (estimate by her)
Your garden is as colorful as your beautiful quilts, I see were you get your inspiration :)
gosh your garden and flowers are so pretty.
those 16 patches look really neat too - i like how you chose the fabrics
