I took this picture from the kitchen window. The ring neck doves have been here for over a week. Last year they didn't come until May 4th. They are so hard to get a decent picture of because their heads are bobbing up and down eating most of the time.
This is the biggest rabbit I have ever seen in my yard. I think he must be the daddy. Usually the rabbits come after dark to clean up under the bird feeders.
This is our state flower even though a lot of people try to convince me they are weeds.
While it rained heavily in the afternoon I went down to the basement and cut batting for all of these small quilts. I was able to use a bunch of odd shaped pieces of batting and didn't need to cut any out of a new batt.
The brunnera is still blooming.

When I was a child we would go down to the creek and pick violets and buttercups. They are still 2 of my favorite flowers.
My limey green hosta, just coming up.
This clump of hosta will be divided this year. I divided the other 2 clumps near it last year.
I took my winter coat down to the laundry yesterday. I am declaring the end of winter even though we are supposed to go down to 39 degrees tonight.........and back up to 79 degrees tomorrow.

How can anyone think of violets as weeds?
Violets are our state flower and one of my favorites, too. We have bunnies in our yard again this year. They were gone for a while when we had a fox family. I preferred the foxes! The bunnies are eating everything the dear don't. I won't have any flowers left!
Your yard is definitely blooming with spring. My hosta started to come up, but the deer are already chomping at them. Some years they do and some they don't. It is a good thing they are hardy and still come up every year. I just love spring!! It was warm here yesterday and I fully enjoyed it! I am looking forward to many more warm days.
My grandmother was born in Vermont and moved to California in 1900 at age 21. Her favorite flower was violets and it made her cry when we found them to buy and present to her. I don't think I've ever seen them growing in the "wild".

We must have twin yards, except yours is a few days ahead of mine. With all the rain the past couple of days we are finally very green.
We have plenty of doves, but I don't think we get the ring-neck kind. Usually mourning doves, and they are a bit dumb (in brain power). One time a hawk swooped in, picked up one of their friends and the rest kept on eating! We couldn't believe it.

Lovely flowers. My lilacs are just about to burst into bloom. I love the smell of lilacs. I will have to take some pics when they do. It is raining pretty steadily today, so that will help everything really green up!
OH....I just want to 'dig thru' your pile of quilts you have laying there! They look really good!!

Seems like no matter where we live spring is just plain hot or cold till summer arrives.
For the l o n g winter you had your spring plants are coming up with the calendar. You always capture such a great photo's of them. I dearly love those violets, my favorite also.

The flowers look wonderful! We've yet to see anything flowering but the green shoots are making their presence known.
My winter coat is now in its spring/summer storage bag and is remaining there, no matter how cool it gets, until November.

What a nice picture of little quilts right inthe middle of the flower pictures.
This is exactly what I need to do - my batting bins are overflowing - time to piece some of it together for the smaller tops waiting for quilting.
Isn't it nice to see the green again. It seems like we went from winter to summer with no spring inbetween.

Spring is definitely there! I'm glad you took your coat to the cleaner. You don't need to actually go outside at night, do you? That's what I do...I stay inside when it's cold at night because my coat went to the cleaner's weeks ago! Your "critter" pictues are great. The rabbits over here are huge. In fact, I've always said that both the rabbits and the deer are the size of dogs. But I hardly see any rabbits. I come from PA...there is always wildlife around to see. Here, I consider myself lucky to see anything. I don't know why.
Thanks for all the beautiful spring flower photos! I'm afraid to go out in my yard - the fir trees are spewing pollen everywhere! I love violets too, and I saw some the other day when I was out (before I noticed the pollen!). Violets make me smile.
Violets are lovely! My Aunt had wonderful violets, but she had 2 pet sheep, & they ate the lot!
