Some chisel blocks.............

I sewed 16 quarter blocks last night and put them up on the design wall with the 2 sewn blocks.  I can see a couple I need to move because a fabric is too close to itself in another block.  I will probably sew all of the rest of the quarter blocks before I come up with the final layout. The blocks are 18" so 12 should be enough for a throw quilt.  I need to sew 23 more center strips which are 2 darks sewn together and 6 more dark/light pieces.

It was a beautiful day yesterday so I spent an hour and a half digging out Tiger Lilies in a garden that is going to be redone.  If anyone who is close to Sandwich IL wants any, my email address is on my right sidebar.  I have them in water now and they will be good for a few days this way.  I plan to plant a few in the back garden.

Here is a photo of the orange Tiger Lilies from 2019.  They grow about 4' tall with a sturdy stem and many blooms on each plant.  They also self seed which is why I had so many to dig out.

It is getting close to the end of the month and I don't have any finishes yet.  I think I made 4 quilt tops so far.  I do a monthly recap each month (label on the label list, right side bar if you are curious) so I'm thinking ahead to how I want to spend the last 4 days of this month.

Can't believe how May is roaring in. Where did April go? Love your block progress. Wish I was close enough for the lilies.

I love tiger lilies and have so many of them. Like you say they self seed for sure and to think it all started from a couple seeds washing into my yard at the foot of my driveway I imagine and now I have so many and they are so pretty

Those blocks are so pretty! It has to be fun playing with them on the design wall. The tiger lilies are so beautiful, but I am too far away and the deer would probably eat them anyway.

The chisel block quilt will be another winner for sure. I tend to drive myself crazy trying to keep same fabrics apart only to find some I missed once the quilt is assembled. I used to have lots of Tiger lilies, to the point that I pulled them out like weeds, but the red lily beetles have decimated all the true lilies, including the Tigers.

I love your chisel blocks. Actually, I love pretty much everything you do. I always want to start quilts similar to what you're doing. I have to restrain myself so I can finish what is already in progress. So many designs, so little time.

Describe your block size again..... is one white/dark chisel 9" long? Or 18"... or 4.5"?

That’s a really fun block. Wish I lived closer as I’d grab some of those lilies. I love their color.

Hope those extra tiger lilies find a new home - they're beautiful. And the chisel block top is going to be wonderful!!!

Every time I see your chisel blocks their beauty glows even more. Marcia Derse must be designing fabrics just for you. And your creative designing combining theses fabrics in this block takes my breath away.

Obviously I am too far away, and they would not grow here anyway, but they surely are pretty!

Either the second or third quilt that I ever made was this chisel star pattern. It was a gift but I loved it. You are making me think that I should make another!
