This was my design wall when I walked into my studio yesterday morning.
This was the design wall by the end of the afternoon. I need to find some more fabrics to finish the bottom corner.
The purple violets have started blooming and there are lots of them all over the back garden.
There are a few white violets too and a lot more will show up in the grass. I know many people think they are weeds but I love them. As a small child I used to pick bouquets of purple violets and yellow buttercups along a little creek.

I love those violets too. In my family, we call them “Pond Hollow violets”. My mother had transplanted a couple of the violets from her aunt’s yard over 60 years ago, and her aunt lived in Pond Hollow. Nannie was a wonderful gardener who grew her own food (and was a quilter too!). I always thought the violets originated there....so when I see them in my yard, I think of Nannie. Needless to say, I smile when I see those little violets (weeds? not to me!).
I love the violets as well and always picked bouquets as a child! I found some yesterday on my walk and may have picked a few! :)

My azaleas are just about ready to burst into bloom--rain predicted tomorrow--
so I am hoping that will prod them into flowering...

You got a lot done on that colorwash piece! It is going to be another beauty! The violets are so sweet. I don't mind them in my yard either.
I have violets everywhere and I leave them be except when they invade the garden and threaten to take over vast areas. I remove enough of them to make way for other plants. That's a lovely colorwash in progress. I must get mt batik colorwash quilted. No excuse, just need to get it in the queue.

I love violets - and I used to pick bouquets of them for my mother (she loved them, my dad called them weeds). DH and I have compromised - no violets in the lawn but they're allowed to grow in the big beds under the trees and around the perimeter of the back yard along the fence. It has been a while since you've done a floral color wash - so pretty!
I especially enjoyed yesterday's garden tour, Redbuds are such an individual color - I always say I like all colors but admit that one is a favorite!

I like the violets, too. We also had them when I was a child, and they are in the lawn and flowerbeds here.
You are amazing at those colorwashes. I made one, and I think that's my limit.
I know how much work goes into putting that many squares up. Looking good.
I never tire of seeing you do these colorwash quilts. They are like magic on your hands.
Spring wildflowers are my favorites!!! and then the more regular garden flowers... Found 2 more wildflowers growing inside the yard boundaries this year. Bluettes and Wild Johnny Jump Ups (Field Pansy)! I have not ventured out to the forest... this year. When you do a colorwash, it makes me want to make one too... but not enough time to do everything....
