Beachy colors................

I was looking through my Marcia Derse fabrics and one of her older lines was called "Shoreline".  The colors were reminiscent of the beach, water, driftwood, sea grass and other coastal things so I thought I should make a summer vacation quilt.  I added a few pieces from some of her other lines too to have a good variety.  This is the first layout, kind of like twisting rope.

This second layout looks like a net thrown over the sand.  I just had to turn the blocks in every other row for this layout.  Which one should I sew?
Here is a closer look at some of the fabrics.

I was surprised last night to see my miniature Beebalm.  I didn't think it had survived.  It doesn't get any bigger each year, still small like it was when I planted it.

I started clearing out the Creeping Charlie, Violets and Lily of the Valley growing in my path around the Redbud tree.  I have at least one more day working on it.

If we are voting for layout preferences, I definitely like the net thrown over the sand much better. But how can you go wrong with Marcia Derse prints in any layout!!

That is a tough choice--but I like the first one better--just a bit different....very pretty fabrics...
My lilies are in buds right now--we desperately need rain...our lawns are drying up already--and not even August...

First one isn’t going anywhere...it just drops off. The second one wraps around itself and stays contained. Colors are lovely.

I like both layouts so I am no help! LOL!!! Those fabrics are gorgeous!

Love the beachy colors. Both layouts look great. Things are really growing in the garden. After yesterday's thunderstorms and cooler temps, I bet the weeds I have under control will make a break for it.

Fantastic fabrics! Love the second layout.

I like the first layout. Turned sideways it might remind me of waves in the water.

I like the twisting rope. How about trying it going across then it might look like little waves washing up on the beach?

I love voting - I prefer the second one but have you tried mixing up the colours more? Another warm sunny day here today - perfect weather - hope you have the same whilst gardening :) (2nd attempt, glad I copied pasted, even though it's a short one)

I like the second layout that looks like a net.

I'm a big fan of Marcia Derse fabrics, and also of her design style. I think the "Net" design is a nice reflection of her style. I particularly like it because I think it gives fabrics time to display their uniqueness. In first quilt the design overwhelms the beauty of the fabric.

Oh I love the colors & fabrics...yummy! I would vote for the first one...reminds me of a rain chain.

I love (!!) the second layout and the way the colors shift in and out of the "rings" in the netting. I love her early fabrics (and some of her newer ones) - especially the way they interact with each other.

I love the first one! It is like ripples, or rain coming down, very cool and soothing. The second one is nice but the first has a very unique movement and I find it more pleasing to my eye. I am sure that by the time you are down tweaking it to your liking it will be an amazing quilt.

I like both but lean toward the first. Both lovely looking. Soothing colors.

I like your 'beachy' fabrics. At first I thought I liked the 2nd layout better, but than I noticed that the first layout reminded me of ocean waves. Hard choice!

I'm liking the 2nd version better. I'm not sure why though.

I like the first one. I'm thinking about doing that layout with rainbow colors of ribbons.

How lovely. You have more blocks in each color than I did and you organized better. Love both of them. And I have a few of the same Marcia Derse fabrics which makes your photo even more fun. I must try it again with a limited color palette like this.

I love the second layout and really love these beachy fabrics!

Well my go to would be the first layout, reminds me of ocean waves.

Slight quandary. The first is more unusual but I prefer the second - there's a reason it's the more obvious one.

I also like both layouts, my preference being the second, BUT the first actually looks like the water coming in and out of shore.

I like the first one. It looks like waves. I don't get the feeling of sand in either of them.

I choose the second one!!!

I prefer the second one, looks more interesting to me. I didn't know there was miniature Beebalm.

I vote for the second one. But in all fairness, I should add that it might be because I made a blue and green quilt last year which looks a lot like it. So it just speaks to me! Love Marcia’s fabrics, too.
