Yard work, basement discoveries...........
I mowed my front and side yards yesterday and couldn't help but notice all of the blooms on the Lungwort/Pulmonaria plants. There are lots of these plants near a tree at my lot line.
I went back out later and started cutting down volunteer trees, about 50 of them so far and that was just one corner of a flower bed.
I was doing laundry so while I was down there I started going through things in one corner of the basement. I found these 2 little leftover bargello pieces from 30 years ago. I made my oldest granddaughter a vest with the rest of the one on the left and she is 32 now. I'm thinking of using these pieces in some little zipper tote bags. This is the time of year when the basement is cold because the heat doesn't come on very often. It isn't much fun being down there for an extended amount of time. In the winter it is the warmest spot in the house and in summer when hot outside is the coolest place.

I think I have some of those prints in the fabric that was donated to me. My longarm is in the basement. I have a plug in heater that I warm the space with before I can quilt. I don't like being in the basement, but that is the only place the machine fits.
My basement is the same. But this weekend I'm doing a deep cleaning now that woodstove season is over and my last mosaic is done. I'm halfway done and have already filled 2 garbage bags! Satisfying but still no fun!
I love the fact that you are planning a project with these discoveries! Zippered bags are a great use for them. Quick and useful!
I have so many volunteer trees to take care - that is the one thing about living on land with a lot of trees is all the seeds that fly around in the fall and take hold - I don't even know what kinds are growing - just too many of them. Some will make it and others won't of course but I keep pulling some up and others that are too big I spray carefully with brush killer
That's a lot of volunteer trees to move out. I always think that clumps of Pulmonaria plants are very pretty with their tiny flowers and the potted leaves. I think I lost mine this year with the drought-like conditions.

I decided it would be a great day for pulling the volunteer trees as we’ve had so much rain this past week. They were coming up everywhere! Cleaned out a few planting beds and enjoy seeing them look better.
Those leftover bits will make some pretty tote bags.
