On the design wall...........
This is the first layout and I can already see areas that need to be changed. I will be playing with the layout today and hopefully be ready to sew it together by tonight.
Here is the same scene as yesterday's photo only its sunny in this one. I need to get out and take a photo across the whole backyard today.
I made 6 more masks. I think I'll just stay on this routine of 6 a day so it doesn't become a chore.

I think that any changes "needed" would be more about personal preference, Wanda. The thing I love about this design is the fact that you inserted those "plain" squares as a place for the eye to rest. That is smart planning! When I finally get around to making a 16-Patch block quilt, I hope I remember to choose a fabric to do that with.
Hope you can find a satisfactory color/texture balance. Getting mask-making to a routine is a good way to deal with it. There was an article in the Tribune this morning about a Chicago resettlement program that has its participants making masks. The reporter wrote that the woman featured can make a mask in 20 minutes. "Five minutes for cutting, fifteen minutes for sewing." Sheesh. Is she using manicure scissors?

My first thought when I saw the picture was that it looked like dappled sunlight.

I'm having one devil of a time with my iPad... Google tells me it is a vintage unit that can no longer connected
with them.... Its only 8 years old... deep sigh ~
So I am back to my desk top for now, and that is way older than my iPad !

Like you and many quilters,I've been making 100s of masks for local hospitals, service workers,family and friends. Have read your blog forever, but may have missed a note about your mask dimensions. What size unfinished fabric do you use for your masks and what length do you use for the elastic? I have been making mine 8" by 6" unfinished, before pleating, and use 7" elastic for ties. I make lots with long fabric ties too, it takes much longer, but many nurses here have requested ties.
