This quilt top was finished in April 2014 and now it is quilted and bound, a real finish. It is 74" x 95".
It is a Kathy Doughty design which she called Soul Searching. I think it looks like party lanterns so that is what I will call mine.
This is the book from C&T Publishing that the quilt and directions are in. I added crosswise rows at both ends to make it more rectangular and it fits a twin/single bed.
I had two 3 yard pieces of black and white prints that I used on the back.
In 2015 I made a miniature of the quilt using 1.5" strips. It is about 40" square compared to the 74" x 95" quilt above.
In 2014 a couple friends and I made another version we saw on the internet. This one was quilted in Nov. 2014 and is 67" x 74", a large throw quilt.

That's always been a favorite of mine, but I've never made one.
Congrats on turning that UFO into a completed quilt, Wanda!!
As usual very beautiful!
Congratulations on your first finish for the month! I like the bits of color mixed in with the nearly all white and black background. It turned out beautiful!
I think that quilt has always been my favorite out of that book and I have never made it - really need to - love your version
This is another of my favorites. I loved the whole series, though had forgotten you did the miniature. I'm happy to see them all together again--it's hard to believe how long it has been!
this really came out beautifully..Such a charming pattern..I especially like the mini version..

Admired this when you first made the top- congrats on the finish!
Love your quilt and I always see party lanterns too. Loved that you shared the others you previously made. It was fun to see them all together. Congrats on the finish. ;^)
Oh, I just love this quilt and I think I have to book, too! I'm going to have to collect some more black and white fabrics, though. All of your versions are gorgeous!
Party Lantern celebration ! Another of your patterns that you turned into one of your own grand designs .
2014 and 2015 are as fun and unique as this one.
