Something new............

That was fun yesterday reading all of the comments about me being the queen of procrastination.  I don't know for sure if I have been de-throned or just joined in my reign!  We all are good at procrastination, that is for sure.  So instead of getting backings pieced I played with an idea for a new quilt.  I am pulling the background fabrics.  This is the first batch.
I kept looking and came up with all of these, 29 in total so far.  I know I will add to them.

I don't think my orange/peach cactus has ever bloomed this close to Christmas.  A few years ago I split the plant into two and gave the other half to my daughter-in-law last spring.  Her half bloomed in November.  For me it has usually bloomed from January to April.
The white one continues to bloom.  I have many buds on my favorite light pink one too.

In the outdoor garden I have a squirrel hanging from a suet cage and trying to eat as much as he can.  The crows are waiting for him to leave.

The crows come a couple times a week to clean up under the suet cages.

I did get a backing sewn together yesterday so now I need to cut the batting and I can get that one quilted.

Nice selection of background fabrics--
Oh those pesky squirrels--they manage to get in everywhere.

In your background fabrics, I don't think I've ever seen the stick people print. It's wonderful! Looking forward to seeing what you do with these.

Iam amazed at how much you get done. But then I don't sew at night, that might be part of it.
We are going to be down sizing, so of course i am leaving the studio for last. And there is always one more project to work on. Our Great Gran is now 2, and I still have her quilt on the board. Why couldn't I just do something from a book instead of reinventing the Quilt! Now she has a brother coming in May. Yes, going to look at baby quilt patterns, and set a time to get into the studio. Just like I promised to get my blog out more often. Don't know how you do it all.!!! thank you for motivation!

I can't imagine how you think you procrastinate. I use your blog as a kick in the pants if I am feeling lazy. I recently spent almost a whole day piecing backs and getting those 5 quilts to the long arm quilter. I felt good to get them moving. Of course I love the swirling of your new project. I have had my Christmas cactuses doing well this year. Especially since I followed your repotting advice. Thank you. Thank you for your inspiration.

So far the grey squirrels that hang out around our house haven't yet found the suet cage and figured out how to get to it!! I'll keep watching. Love the backgrounds you pulled for the new quilt!!

You do have a great collection of black and white fabrics. I got a bird feeder for the first time this year and yes, it is a squirrel feeder too.

Oooh interesting quilt to be. Love the (almost) Christmas cactus - mine is still on holiday with my mother - it is in flower!
Yes, we have a squirrel too. Last year we had a family of them and they ran off with all the walnuts from our tree. This year no sign of any until after we had harvested plenty of nuts for ourselves, left the rest to the wildlife.
We did visit a place that had "anti-squirrel" bird feeders - except a squirrel had squeezed through the bars and looked like a furry scarf inside and around the goodies tube feeder! Cheeky things!

I have a large collection of similar black and white background fabrics and yet not one is the same as any of yours. Amazing how many there are out in the fabric world. Looking forward to seeing what you create with them.
I have a salmon color cactus currently in bloom as well as an actual Christmas (as opposed to Thanksgiving) cactus in bright pink and a white one with a tinge of light pink.

When I was in so much pain before back surgery, the antics of the squirrels kept me distracted from my pain, so I never begrudge them the food they get when they make the leap from our tree to the birdfeeder. As far as procrastination, well my grandkids are 7 and 5 and I am still hoping to get a quilt made for each of them before the minions and unicorn fabrics are no longer interesting to them. I also like the stick figures fabric - so cute.

Those prints are fabulous! I have a pile of similar prints leftover from another project and I want to get those turned into a baby quilt or two. I am interested to see what you will do with your prints.
