First day of winter...........

Today is the first day of winter and we are supposed to be in the low 50s the next 2 days......after freezing weather ever since the end of October.

Yesterday I had errands in the morning, a mid afternoon yearly appointment with the pacemaker specialist who did my surgery and then I came home and baked 2 batches of Spritz cookies (Recipe in 1950s Betty Crocker cookbook).  No sewing.  I didn't even touch a piece of fabric.  Today I get to stay home all day and play.  There are 2 small boxes of the broken and mis-shaped cookies that I may have to sample today.

don't you love Betty Crocker - I think my edition is from the late 1960's as I know it was the first cookbook I had when I married in 72 and it has been used so much that several pages are ripped or stuck together, one daughter bought me a later smaller version that she found somewhere that was from the 90's I think and I don't care for it or use it all that often but stick with the old book. Here we are in a warm spell too and Christmas Day might get up to 65! no snow for us

My Better Crocker cookbook was given to me as a gift, not long after we married, 64 years ago, and it's been well used and loved, all these years. Some of the recipes are geared toward larger quantities of cookies in one batch, which comes in handy at Christmas time, when I make batches of at least 100 for each cookie. Wanda, I used to make the pressed cookies years ago when the kids were younger, but somewhere, along the way, it either broke, or it was given away. Have fun today!

Your spritz cookies make my mouth water, and and are so pretty. And I too still use my OLD hard cover Betty Crocker cook book I bought when taking home Ec. in high school. (^._.^). And from the mountains we had 55 degrees yesterday and today it's supposed to hit 50. I think Mother Nature is all mixed up, but wouldn't it be great if we went right into spring. now ?

This is the first time in ages I haven't made spritz cookies, but my excuse is we aren't home this year! However my SIL and I just finished three types of cookies and 2 bar cookies so we won't starve!

I won't be sewing much this week.....
