This project has been on one of the design walls in the basement for about 8 months. Here is the post where more of the layout is shown. I decided it was time to start sewing some of the blocks to see if it would be an enjoyable project. I need to cut a lot more of the light prints. These are all Marcia Derse fabrics.
This is how the center of the first block turned out after 3 tries at it. That is about 1/16" of an inch off.
The second block turned out better. I used to make a lot of Kaleidoscope quilts so I know I can match the centers.
Another new orange cacti bloom yesterday. They make me so happy.
The dark rose one is fully opened now. I think I see a bud on the pale pink one so I'm hoping for one more bloom at this east window.
It was 70s early in the day yesterday and 36 at bedtime. It was going down from there through the night. All of the severe storms with hail stayed south of us.

Matching all those points is an art for sure, Wanda--looking good...
That deep rose cactus is so pretty..I can see why it makes you happy;)))
49 here early this morning; hoping to trim up my JRJ today..
Hugs, Julierose
Your center matches are fine. Remember your nose is only a few inches from the block. Once it is quilted, washed, and loved, it will be fine! When I was at the shop that made custom clothes for people that showed Western Horses, the women that glued the rhinestone on jackets and blouse would fret over a stone that looked a bit crooked. I would tell them that a girl wearing that jacket riding a horse in the middle of an arena - no one will see that stone! Like you, they took great pride in their work.
That little bit off won't detract one whit from what's going to be a super quilt. I assume you have a die to cut those kaleido-wedges?
Stunning photo of that orange cactus blossom! Kaleidoscope blocks are wonderful but that center matching is always a challenge.
I have a three try limit for point matching but it is super rewarding when multi-points line up perfectly!
‘Back in the day’ it would drive me crazy to be off 1/16th of an inch…Today doesn’t bother me one bit. 😊
yes 80's yesterday and 56 today and cloudy and breezy tonight and tomorrow nights high 30's to low 40's constantly changing - you always get your intersections to match up so well that is one thing I have a problem with but I don't have perfect seams I know - those are all so pretty
