There was a large pile to press yesterday, including these 4 Marcia Derse fabrics for the last 2 blocks. I will get them cut today. I also pressed all of the finished blocks that were in the test layout yesterday.
I pressed the 14 stratas from the day before and got them cut into 2 columns. Later in the afternoon I sewed them into blocks, so they are ready to press now.
I had 2 hours of TV to watch and nothing set up to sew, so I grabbed a box of Marcia Derse fabric scraps and started making crazy pieced blocks.
I got 2 blocks to the final stage by the time the news came on.
Both of these blocks will be able to be trimmed to 8.5". I kept the tablerunner I made in January so I thought I should make another that I can gift to someone. There is always the possibility I will want to keep this one too.
I check all of my cacti every day, and even though this one has been checked once or twice a day, it surprised me with a bloom close to the edge of the pot on the side that faces the window. Not only that, but there is another bud too, also on that side. This is the orange one although it may look like red in the low light.

Love those "crazy" blocks--I like making those with my bits and pieces leftover...;000 You got a lot done on the MD fabric piece;))).It will be pretty...
41 here this morning--one of "those" nights last night--so up early...the garage team is due here @ 10 this morning for installation....hope all goes well--they seem a bit cavalier about times to me!!
I will be sewing the 2nd top together today..and the 1st is all ready to be quilted...moving ahead slowly...

That was a lot of pressing you got done! Those crazy blocks are so special. The orange bloom is so pretty. I looked at my new Christmas cactus last evening and I have one flower ready to pop open. I will have to remember to get a picture of it and post it tomorrow.
I love those surprise blooms! It’s hard to get crazy blocks to 8 1/2” with the scraps I put in my scrap drawers……I might need to start adding larger scraps ;-) We received 4” of snow yesterday and it’s snowing again this morning. It’s lovely when I know it will be gone in a day or two.
You got a lot accomplished yesterday and I love the crazy blocks.
The crazies are fun to look at! I like the angles.
That sure was alot of pressing and sewing yesterday and last evening… and especially liked your crazy pieced block.
Those crazy blocks look like so much fun. It’s such a great use of smaller bits.
some times they seem to bloom overnight with no warning -I like those crazy blocks!
Always in the mood for crazy blocks, so much good stuff. I don't think I have cactus blooms now. One mini orchid and the African violets have wonderful buds.
One of my cacti is that color - they’re gorgeous. Mine have fewer flowers now and only a few more visible buds during this second bloom. Your MD fabrics look so good - glad you are having fun with all of them (even the little bits).
