Pressing, cutting, sewing..............

I decided to take the larger pieces of Marcia Derse scraps out of the project boxes and cut 3" finished triangles out of them.  I pressed all of the strips and the other things piled on the ironing table.

Last night I sorted the triangles into piles of the same fabric.  I'll do lots more cutting before I decide a use for these.

I sewed these 3 stratas which will become half blocks for the 'other 16 patch' quilt.

After pressing the blocks I made on Monday night, I trimmed them to 8.5".

Yesterday afternoon I remembered there were 3 partially pieced blocks left over in December when I made the first table runner top.  It won't take too many strips to finish these blocks and I'll have my 5 for a new table runner.

This is the ruler I will use to trim the blocks so this one looks like one triangle shape and one strip will finish it.

It was another day in the 20s yesterday but 60s predicted on Friday and Saturday.

You are really delving deep into the Marcia Derse fabrics this month. Nice works with them.
Only 24 this morning--today will be bobbin winding and walking foot set up for me...and some paper crafting...I am debating whether i should add a wider strip on top of my 2nd JR blues quilt--I am not a big fan of square quilts--.unless they are for a wall hanging.....will have to see...
Hugs, Julierose

It is so satisfying sending the triangle die through the cutter and seeing the triangles stack up. I bought a 6 1/2” cut single triangle die thinking of scraps but a multiple die would have been better. I can use the single die for strips of fabric but have to run them through twice. It was 11 degrees when I got up today, brrrrr!

You are getting a lot accomplished on your different projects. Yesterday was miserable here. Cold, windy, and the snow - geeze, the snow! There was a 23 car pileup on the interstate because of a whiteout. From what I have heard, no one got hurt thank goodness. One of the guys here said his wife and kids got stuck waiting for over 2 hours while the mess was getting cleared.

I'd be very tempted to pair those triangles with a light color and play with half square triangle setting options. Could be a fun change from all the squares and rectangles and strip piecing! But...Marcia Derse......can't go wrong with anything you do!

Your new 5-block runner will be wonderful - how great with MD fabrics you can pull out partial blocks from months back and have them play perfectly with new scraps.

Such gorgeous fabrics! Do you get them by mail order or is there a shop in this general area that carries them?

P.S. And good for you to cut the scraps into usable shapes right away!
