I added some pieces to the partially assembled crazy pieced blocks, pressed and trimmed them. This will be a long table runner with the blocks measuring 8": 5 x 8" = 40", and that is before adding sashing or borders.
I tried this Marcia Derse fabric as a possible choice for sashing and border. With both light and dark strips on the outside edges of the blocks it becomes trickier to choose the fabric.
I also sewed the six half blocks for the 'other 16 patch' quilt, 2 of each that are shown. I need to press them and then I can work on a layout for the quilt.
I trimmed this quilt a few days ago but haven't done any serious searching for a binding fabric.
We got up to find an inch of snow on the ground yesterday morning. It got up to the mid 40s so it disappeared quickly. The piles of snow from the previous storm are going down fast too. 50s predicted for today.

It does get tricky to find sashing/borders for crazy pieced blocks, the b/w print works! I know you will keep with a MD fabric but I’d love to see what the Kaffe b/w onion print would look like. Our high today will reach 50 as well and it feels like March’s lion is calming down.
I like your outside edges choices for those MD Crazy blocks, Wanda--this will be a lovely table runner.. I always seem to like .B&W binding with scrappy blocks...
Only 25 here this sunny morning...we're supposed to get rains overnight and then some warming for a couple days...I hope to get my walking foot on today--yesterday my fingers got too sore after handling bobbins for winding...and then, some housework is in store for me also...
hugs, Julierose
The balance of black to white in the swirly print makes a good frame for the very busy crazy blocks.
I am sure you will find just the right fabric to sash and border the table runner. The high here is going to be 53 which is much better than the cold, wind, and snow we have been having!
Glad to hear things are warming up some. From what I see on the news, you have had a brutal weather. We are exxpecting weather in the 90s this weekend. I think the Marcia Derse fabric will be a good companion to the blocks.
Crazy pieced blocks sure makes for a Fun and Festive table runner. ~ It was 74 degrees up here in the mountains yesterday ! Warmest winter on record for many, many years for us.
will the crazy runner have more than one row or remain narrow? I like that idea you free formed yours right? I know I have seen some foundation papers to do it also. I would have to do it free form to use scraps.
I like the b/w you pulled for the runner - unless you find something even better. Looking forward to the quilt you've just trimmed. We've just made it into the 70s today - blue skies and mockingbirds singing their hearts out after the freezing temps earlier in the week.
