I usually don't get started working on anything the first day of the new month, but yesterday I got busy. First I found a backing for this table runner which I pieced several years ago. I think it is the first project I made when I got the Hunter Star cutting die.
I decided to have a little fun looking through a collection of fabrics that I bought several years ago. It is all Kathy Doughty fabric. I have a couple of Kathy's books and have made a few quilts from one of them and one quilt from another one.
But...that wasn't all of them. Here are a few more pieces that will work with the large bird prints.
And there are more......
Last night I decided to take the flannel 16 patches and put them on the design wall. I have 38 blocks so there are 3 more on my table. I need to make 2 more for another row. My plan is to use the rectangles and squares as a border. I think I'm going to remove the very darkest ones and use only the medium tones.

You were busy! Pulling fabrics, while fun, does take time, (as does dealing with the leftovers, lol) but oh how fun to have a new project percolating! I think leaving the dark rectangles out of the borders is a good idea.
Just as seemingly random play is good for child development, it's good for quilter's development!
Love the flannel piece, Wanda--cozy, comforting colorways in there.;)))
22 here and expecting rain/snow mix later on tomorrow. Went out early and did the weekly food shop--so pretty tired out--but wanted to have stuff on hand--with these types of storms you never know this year!!
With my "Sweet Babu's" [;)))] help we will move all the rows now on my wall to my blocking board on my dining table so I can measure them one by one...I do want to get these ready to sew together when I am up to it...
Hugs, Julierose
To go from the springy floral to the warmer flannels in one blog feels like the seasons are changing.
Another lovely assortment of fabrics that play well together. Glad you took time to play!
I really like the rectangles for the border. You have a great start for March!
Your busy day yesterday made for a fun “show ‘n tell” blog today.
I've always loved that Hunter's Star die and it was one of my purchases after I saw some on other blogs - it is actually quite a easy quilt to make -I love the colors you used
Those KD fabrics are so cheerful - what fun to play/fondle those. And I agree about removing the darkest border rectangles so the warmer browns can sing.
What a great way to start the month! I really like the border for the flannel quilt.
