Little squares....................

I planned a layout yesterday morning for half of a table runner.  I figured I could piece the same layout twice and then sew them together into one long unit.

I couldn't believe it took over 2 hours to sew the two halves.

One final seam and I have a 12" x 24" table runner top.  I could sew another identical top or I could rearrange the squares for a new design for the second one.

A friend gave me this little holiday lantern last year.  I love the fact that it has a 6 hour timer and turns itself on and off each evening.

I liked it so well that this year I added 3 trees that also have 6 hour timers.  I rarely ever have a light on in my living room so these are like little night lights.

These little squares of the table runner are wonderful... beautiful colors.
That's right, sewing usually takes longer than expected and it's fantastic when there is enough time.
Your Christmas lantern and the trees are wonderful. We have installed our poinsettia in the garden and the candle arch - a tradition from the Erzgebirge with lots of lights - with a timer, so it lights up before you get up.
Kind regards from Viola

If you sewed your pairs into 4 patches and the 4 patches into rows, then you sewed 200 (or so) seams. If you spun the seams on your, then I think 2 hours is fast ;-) I adore your tree “night lights” and the timers are the best, aren’t they?

Your little squares came together so well;))) Just love a Christmas scrappy runner!!
That lantern and those cute lit trees are so welcoming;)))
Raining here this morning...more stormy weather on our doorstep they say.
I am improving finally !! YAY!! Hugs, Julierose

Your table runner is very pretty! Sewing always seems to take longer in actual construction than it does in our head! Your lantern and trees are so beautiful lit up. I need to get out the ceramic piece my mother made me years ago. It is crescent moon with Santa's sleigh flying. It lights up and is my favorite ceramic item she made.

Your Christmas runner turned out so pretty. And I have luminary candles and Christmas trees on timers. I love those little lights and never take down one tree and its lites up ever night year round.

I always underestimate how long a project will last, and you stitch much faster than I do. I find it hard to believe that you will duplicate the same design but you might surprise me!

I love your cheery and festive table runner using your 2" squares. It's so much more interesting since the blocks are small.
Your luminaries are so pretty, too. I have two different sized green ceramic Christmas trees with multi color lights. My aunt made them both and gave the smaller tree to us on our first Christmas together. The larger tree was a gift to my parents that I have since inherited. They are the night lights in our living room and both have a switch on their cords to turn them off and on.

Hugs!

Can I ask where you found the trees? Looking for something similar.
