Floral fabrics and fall photos............

When I first started making colorwash quilts I used only floral fabrics because that is what Deirdre Amsden from the UK used.  She was the first person I saw doing colorwash in 1987.  She used Liberty Lawn fabrics.

I only made one with Liberty Lawn fabrics.  A friend gave me some of the squares and also hand quilted it for me.

We are in the enrollment period for my Colorwash 360 class until Friday night.  Here is a link to the sales page if you want to learn this technique too.

I know this photo isn't very clear because I was using the super zoom on my camera from the kitchen window.  I think the photo will enlarge if you click on it.  It is a Goldfinch eating Coneflower seeds, a sure sign of fall in my back garden.  I rarely see the Goldfinches any other time.

The Annabelle Hydrangeas are just right for cutting and drying for a year long bouquet.  I cut a second bouquet yesterday and will cut a third one sometime today.  Last year my Hydranges were smashed by the roofers who were working on my house so I'm replacing a 2 year old bouquet.

My garage door opener is going to be replaced today (I hope) and I think I will mow the  grass for the first time in 5 weeks.  We got about 4" of rain in the 7 days of on and off storms so we have some green grass again.

This spiderweb is outside my kitchen window.  It has raindrops on it from overnight showers a couple days ago.

I have been noticing symptoms of fall too!!! I am afraid that it will be early and much too short, making winter way too long. I hope I am wrong!!!!

We had a whole family of goldfinches at the feeder on Saturday and a pair of bluebirds. First time I've seen the bluebirds (or at least recognized them) all summer.

glad you finally had rain! you sure did need it. Too bad along with that comes the needed chore of cutting grass. I was working on that yesterday

Our goldfinches do the same thing here - they perch on the seed heads and eat and eat. We love watching them. And your sales page for the Colorwash quilt is marvelous - so much information on what students can expect to learn - and they will!

Yes the change of seasons is definitely starting to show. One of my squash plants is starting to fade and there were leaves scattered about in the back yard. We got some rain Sunday morning; just enough to give everything a good drink.

I have been enjoying your posts of all your quilts you plan on using for your Colorwash 360 class. They are just so spectacular, each and everyone.

Goldfinch, hydrangea, and spider web all added to the visual fun today.

My Endless summer hydrangeas grew real big this year- but only a couple of itsy flowers. It had enough fertilizer, but no flower heads to cut and bring in. Goldfinch are here also on the coneflowers. The zinnias are still going gangbusters as well as the four o'clocks.

All beautiful quilts. Love hydrangeas - not got any apart from paniculata grandiflora but that has yet to be planted. I brought it from our old home a couple of years ago. So far very happy in it's pot but I think I'm pushing my luck.
We also have goldfinches but yours are much more pretty yellow than our little ones.
As for the seasons - they are all skewiffy here - the spring had a mega heated spell, summer was a washout and in August the leaves started changing colour - and it was like WHAT!!!! At the moment we are having a late heatwave with high temperatures. The poor veggie patch doesn't know what to do, although the butternut squashes are trying their best to perform albeit too late in the season!
Thank you for piccies, I always appreciate them.
