A few more fabrics.........

I found a few more fabrics to add to the assortment I showed yesterday.  I spent a large amount of time outside so I didn't get anything cut.

This is what I am doing outside, clearing the space in front of every window so the painter can get up to them.  What you see growing on each side of this window is Rose of Sharon.  I have literally hundreds of them growing all over, all volunteers from re-seeding.  I didn't keep up with removing them so now I have to do it.  There were at least 15 in front of this window alone.  The south side of my house is worse and that is where I was working yesterday.

I couldn't resist taking some photos of the coneflowers.  They are beautiful even at this stage.  This seeds on this one haven't dried up yet.

The really dry ones are back farther toward the lot line and that is where the goldfinches have been eating.

The weatherman changed the prediction for rain and we will get very little the way it looks now.  It was raining lightly last night and possibly will linger into this early morning.  It looks like Thursday is the next best chance for another light rain.

I can never keep up with all the plants they just propagate so quickly at times. I think this fall I really need to dig up a lot of the black eyed susan's and just put them at the base where the forest meets the yard - that way I can still see them and enjoy the color but they well be far from the house so I don't have to keep dealing with them.

You had a busy weekend with clearing out volunteer plants. It was a beautiful weekend here and yesterday there was a vigorous breeze which help combat the intense sun. It looks like you are making good headway. The garden pictures over the last couple of days are wonderful. I did see that I have a spot of red and orange on one tree in the back so I guess fall is coming! My zucchini plants have just about had it so I need to get out and tidy up the garden bed. Looks like we are going to get some rain here later tonight which will be welcomed!

I also worked outside yesterday (instead of cutting more squares for the Colorwash 360 class) because it was supposed to rain Mon and Tues. We badly need the rain. Everything is drying up including established shrubs. So, of course, the forecast has now changed and there may be a few showers but not enough to make a difference. So I'll get back to cutting fabric.
