No sewing............
The book came a day earlier than predicted so I was sidetracked yesterday. I always find it interesting how he uses some of his fabrics that are a challenge. I haven't read it yet, just enjoyed the photos and checking out the directions. There are actually some paper pieced parts in a couple quilts in the book.

Having lived in Ireland for a year, I'm finding his latest book to be confusing. I am not a big fan of his fabrics, but find this collection to be lovely. BUT I do not see any connection to Ireland, other than the fact that the quilts might have been made in Ireland???? With a bit of visual and imaginative stretching, I can see some links between colors in photos and those in quilts. I think he was more successful in "Simple Shapes Spectacular Quilts," where the links between finished quilts and collected inspirational photos are stronger and make sense. I wasn't looking for "shamrockery" (phony Irish stuff) but a stronger linking of source/quilt.
Looking forward to the pieces you produce from this one!!!!
Wanda, looking forward to perusing Kaffe's new book and of course, to see what wonderful things you are inspired to make from it. There's always something in his books that gets one to start pondering...designing...playing...creating and the paperpiecing bits you mentioned have my interest piqued!
Looks to be great fun!
it was a treat to see the magazine you have been waiting for. Quilt on the cover is beautiful and I liked seeing a peek of the backing. He is almost as creative as you are. I did not know Kaffe was a he until one your commenters mentioned it. (*._.*).

I am currently in Birmingham England and Kaffe Fasset is staying in the same hotel as me. I felt shy to have my photo taken with him, but regret not asking!
Oh you've already had a copy of the book - mine should be delivered tomorrow, fingers crossed! I fell in love with the quilt on the cover as soon as I saw the promotion for the book.
Just catching up with all your posts from the past 4 days. I adore the quilt on the front page - those reds with the pinks are really pleasing to my eyes and a lovely blueish backing. I wonder what's inside that takes your fancy :) We seem to be getting some rain every other day so no watering needed, but when the sun shines it's been perfect weather and not hot - just how I like it.
