last night. I just grabbed the scrap bag of Kaffe prints and made some blocks. These are similar to the ones I used for 2 little quilts earlier this year. I just needed the sewing machine humming away.
"Anonymous" identified the flower from yesterday's post, Valerian. Here is what Wikipedia says:Other names used for this plant include garden valerian (to distinguish it from other Valeriana species), garden heliotrope (although not related to Heliotropium) and all-heal.
I guess my friend's grandma was right in calling it heliotrope after all. It is an herb with compounds made from the root.

What fun blocks! Kaffe prints play well together, but often they don't seem to play well with other fabrics. Don't quite understand that.
The new blocks are lovely and I soooooo love your fabrics. This will be a great quilt when it is done.

Valerian is a big part of homeopathic healing. It's used to help with insomnia and anxiety.
So it's a sedative growing right out there in your garden. *S*
This is what I found on one website about Valerian--"Unfortunately, the whole plant, with the exception of the flower, has a putrid, rotted cheese.....smelly sock odor. In fact, the smell is bad enough for the early Greeks to have named it Phu (Phew!)." Just curious if yours smells bad? The website also said cats LOVE this plant and will 'worry it to death'. LOL

Yes, I agree, those blocks look cheery and summery.
It drives me nuts when non-quilters look at works in progress (i.e. unattached blocks) and say things like "how long did THAT take? How much longer before you finish it? So are you going to make them into potholders?" etc. No clue that playing with color and shape without a purpose has a purpose.

Are you going 'light, dark, light, dark' or being a bit random? Either way they look great. I also agree with the top comment about Kaffe's fabrics playing well with each other.
