Oh, Mother Nature

This is what I did yesterday afternoon. The frozen ice pellet base is a little over an inch thick with a coating of snow on top. It got up to 33 degrees so I went out and started breaking it up and shoveling it off the driveway. I could only get the ice off half of my sidewalk so I'm hoping it will get up near 30 degrees again. I put ice melter on it last night. I was able to clear my porch and cement steps by putting the ice melter along the front edge and then I could lift up the huge ice chunk, drop it and let it break up and then shovel it off. Last night the motion sensor security light came on in the back yard and here was my visitor.
I had a good response to cutting strips yesterday, and I wanted to add, you can make a viewer to see what any fabric will look like cut into strips. Just take a piece of paper and cut a 2" strip out of the center of it and lay it on your fabric to see what a 2" strip of the fabric looks like.

Mother nature is going to dump Arctic air on us for a couple days starting tomorrow, so I need to go out and work on that ice.

Your walkway looks like ours, however, right now it is snowing more and covering up what was already cleared. More snow for us today and tomorrow, then again Christmas Eve. I love your little visitor! Probably looking for a little snack.

We are having a beautiful sunny day today. Yesterday's storm is but a memory. More coming tonight, but who cares. I love your little backyard visitor! Thanks for the strip audition tip. I often use something similar when I am fussy cutting. Don't worry too much about the ice and snow. It will all be gone in six months anyway.

We have little rabbit prints all over our iced-over snow. I really feel for the little creatures at this time of year. They are saying our windchills will be -15 tonight, and you're furthur north. Brrrrrr!

ooouuuu...better you than me shoveling snow....i love the snow, but probable not as much if i were to have to do what you're doing.....cutting a strip out of a piece of paper is a good idea

You have my sympathy working on that ice. That is really hard physical work. I do not envy you one bit. Take care.

Your Mr. Bunny was probably headed for the seeds that fall from your bird feeder maybe ? With snow and ice every where, what else could he eat?

You have my sympathy at least what's left after my son worked for about 5 hours clearing the 250 foot hill we live on. We had the same ice base under snow and more on the way. After 2 years of no snow at all, this is really the kind of thing we don;t see till Feb. Now I'm scared.

It is amazing to think that those rabbits can survive in that freezing weather.

How nice that the little rabbit came by to visit! Much better having him set off the security lights than, say, a bear!!

I hope that bunny has a warm spot to get some shelter from these temps! It's brutally cold here with the wind chill!
