Closer to finish

I finished the quilting yesterday, doing leaves in the green area. They are easy to do because the center vein of each leaf leads to the next leaf. Here you see a little of the rocks too.
I even got it trimmed and cut the binding. I always trim my quilts before binding them, trimming them an even width from the border seam. This always trims off slivers of a wavy edge, caused by the quilting pulling in on some areas.

The quilt looks pale with the daylight shining across it. I think it is more vivid in person.
The sun is shining this morning and warm, dry weather is on the way. We are supposed to have 70's on Mon. and Tues. I guess I have no excuse now, I have to finish cleaning up the flower beds.

It looks beautiful! I can't wait to see it entirely finished. I am jealous you are going to have 70 degree weather. Send some our way, please.

It looks gorgeous! I can't wait to see it when it's all finished. The leaf quilting is great!

We're going to have really mild weather too -- for almost the entire week. :-))) I'll take as much of this as we can get.

Your quilting is supreme... It adds even more design depth to it. Do you have a tip to pass on as how you work with such a LARGE quilt as you are stitching it ?

Those leaves are great! Sitting in a class a few nights ago, I practiced drawing some connected quilting patterns -- Monday night's class, it'll be those leaves!

Nice quilting. Do you prune back your goose necks too?

I love this quilt, and the quilting is adding a whole 'nother dimension to it. Can't wait to see the whole thing finished! I love that leaf quilting. Very pretty. I may have to play with that!

And I'm enjoying watching the evolution of your basket quilt too.

Love the leave quilting - I find leaves are probably my favorite shape to quilt.

The colors are perfect and the quilting is wonderful. I just started the quilting on a project...the first time I've ever quilted and now I can really appreciate the work. Mine kind of is horrible but I'm learning alot.
I turn to your blog for instructions!

Hi Wanda,
Your quilting is lovely and really adds to the piece.

I noticed you used a variegated quilting thread on the green and blue parts; do you have a favorite?
