We had 48 hours without rain so it was just dry enough that the landscape crew could come back and finish my job.
One group of guys got the pavers/patio blocks laid out in the pattern I requested. The rest is up to me now to plant my lovely space.
Another part of the crew worked on planting 3 compact burning bushes and laying premium garden mulch along the side of the house. They had to re-seed the area where the downspout extension is because the rain water pooled and washed out all of the seed. Good news elsewhere the grass seed is beginning to grow.
There were 12 pavers/patio blocks left over so they carried them to the back yard for me. I'm planning on making a path through my shadiest garden. That will be fun to work on little by little. I will need to dig out a lot of violets and possibly move a couple hostas.
So......that was my exciting Monday!

There are likely screws on the bottom that hold the mailbox onto the pole.
Looks terrific! What an exciting place to plant! I took a class once in planting great looking pots and they said to use thrillers (a focal plant), fillers (medium height fill ins) and spillers (something that breaks the boundaries). I have tried to use that principle when I have a new garden boundary to plan. When I get it right, it looks great. Have fun planning and planting!
I like how the patio stones pick up the pink in the stone on your house. The stones look wonderful and it will be fun for you to plant each one of the sections. Adding the stones to the back will make for a nice path. What about if you just lay the stones out where you want them and let the stone help kill what's growing was growing under them? It might make it easier then to remove the vegetation. If you did one stone a day the job would be done in less than two weeks!

What a difference this makes to the front of your house Wanda. Do you have any idea what type of plants you are thinking of using in your new beds? I'm sure all of us are eagerly waiting to see what you plan to do. I would be willing to bet that you will plan this just as you do your quilts, moving the plants around, until you are satisfied with the layout. It's always nice to have a weed free area from which to begin laying out a new design. Have fun with it!

The landscaping looks great and will fill in beautifully! We had a rain garden put in just before the first of the (almost continual) storms at the beginning of the month. Timing was perfect for the new grass seed too. Saved me a lot of watering, and it was doing well enough to withstand this current series of storms. The rain garden is doing its' job; water from the downspout drains underneath the garden so it will filter before it goes into the drains and onward to our river.
Your landscaping is looking good, the crew did a great job. I wish I had thought to put paver paths through our larger beds when they were first made.
A job well done, and the front planting beds with paver access will, I expect, make a huge difference in accessing all areas of this space. Can't wait to see what you do with your plantings here! You've applied the same artistry to this design as you do with your quilts... this is a living quilt.
