Flannel quilt done in time for Christmas
I couldn't find any more of the red stripe that was in the quilt so I used one in a similar shade of red for the binding (and yes I had it in my stash). I sewed it on by machine and finished it by machine. Here is the whole quilt. I still like it as much as I did in the book that I found the pattern in. Link at the bottom of this post.It took me about 6 shots before I got a clear one with the super macro setting. I used a narrow zigzag to finish the binding on the right side of the quilt.

Nice, nice quilt, Wanda. Not your usual kind of thing. I'd like to try finishing binding by machine sometime.
Great idea on how to machine the binding. I'll have to try that

I just found your blog through Canton Village Quiltworks. You have some lovely quilts pictured!
A lovely cosy quilt,I am sure the recipent will love it.
Thank you for the link.
Nothing like a flannel quilt in the winter! And winter it is -- I'm heading home today through Chicago and just looked at the weather forecast. Yuk!
You are right, just in time for the cold weather. Wonderful finish and I love the binding. I have never seen a zig zag used to apply the binding. Great effect and probably much quicker than hand sewing.
I hadn't seen the zig zag stitch for the binding either - interesting! I love the look of it on that quilt which looks so warm and cozy.

It looks really beautiful! It will be so toasty and fun to curl up under.
I love the quilt. It looks so inviting. I really like the binding. I will have to try that.
Doesn't it feel good to finally finish it? I'm going to try binding like that soon. Love the quilt. Hannah
I really like binding to be different from the inside of the quilt and your's looks great. I have done 2 flannel rag quilts but can't show them yet: Christmas gifts. But they went together great and I got to quilt them, too.
Lovely quilt, thanks for showing the zig zag on the binding...
Very pretty winter quilt! I've been seeing more and more machine finished binding... I might have to try it with my next quilt -
What an inspiration! Thanks for the link, the picture of the binding and the tip on picture taking. I appreciate all three! Karmen
I really love this one. Looks like a wonderful winter quilt to snuggle into!

Nice touch with the zigzag finish. Great quilt too!
Flannel loveliness Wanda!! Snowing and 15 degrees here today - I could wrap up in it!
This is just a really amazing quilt. I love it. The colors, the pattern, I can imagine it is nice and warm...
Have to remember the zigzag for a binding. I will do it all by hand, and this means that it will be visible only on one side.
And. To me, it is one of the most beautiful quilts ever seen.
I love this quilt and I've enjoyed your school photos too.
This is a great quilt Wanda!!! Love the binding tip too!
What an absolutely fabulous quilt for this time of year. Especially if you're getting that huge storm!
Very nice...very homey and warm
