The art quilters came and I treated them to a demonstration of working with a group of fabrics and designing a quilt using 1 template from the basic set of Strips 'n Curves acrylic templates and 2 templates from the basic set 2. One of the quilters asked me to sell him a set of fabrics to work with. I had all of these in my stash. I demonstrated cutting the shapes, choosing where on the prints to do the cutting to get interesting areas, and started the design demonstration on a design wall. Then he and I worked together to get the rest of the pieces cut and do the designing. We turned the bottom right corner block a half turn after I had taken this picture. I think it turned out really well. One of the other quilters asked me to show how I choose a selection of fabrics to work from so I did that with 2 groups of fabrics. Then everyone started working on their quilts. We had a lot of fun.
I didn't get my pieces up on a wall yet so I'll work on that this week. I am using an old Alexander Henry print as my focus fabric.

What fun to be in your art quilt group. I really like the fabrics you chose and used for the photo. Very modern and fun.
Wow Wanda,
What beautiful things you come up with when just "playing". And this quilt now belongs to the other quilter? It would be hard to let go.

Great piece! Love it.
I love it! It is a very interesting combination of fabrics but works very well.
Lovely!
I like that! Hannah
LOVE IT, THIS IS REAL ART.wIG.
WOW! This quilt is amazing! I think this is the best quilt I've ever seen made with Louisa Smith's templates. It makes me want to get to my sewing machine. Thanks for sharing!
Your sew-cial sounds like a lot of fun. Wish I could have come.
I would love to see if you can share your insights on fabric selection via an article and/or tutorial on your blog. You are very talented and I love your insights.
Thanks for sharing.

Love that fabric combo! One of my favourite for Strips and Curves that I've seen you post. Reminds me of a graffiti wall.
WANDA ! That piece is absolutely mesmerizing. I love it ! You see beyond any ones elses imagination. Plus you are the most giving person to share your talent with your art quilter's group.
I sure did not see anything like that, in the photo's you photographed at the FAIR.
And the photo's of the fair including yesterday last series made me feel like I was almost there. Thank you.

Wow -- such a different look with the different fabrics. Love it!!
Fabulous quilt! I wish I could be in your class. Your talent to pick fabrics and put things together that would otherwise be left in the scrap bin is a real incentive to me. I have to get my 'strips and curves' out again. Every time I see another of your creative layouts, I say the same thing, but I never get around to it. One of these days I wil! Great job, Wanda!!
I'm also interested in your thoughts on choosing a set of fabrics for a quilt.
I would LOVE to take that class from you someday (maybe if I ever get up to your neck o the woods!). Love that pattern!
Sounds like you had a fun time! Wish I could be a member of your art quilters' group!
You almost make me wish I still lived in the Chicago suburbs. Almost!
Wanda, first of all, thank you so much for posting all the fair pictures. This is one fair I would love to see in person. I drooled over it all last year, too, when you posted about it.
Those curves make for some very interesting pieces!
Guess what, Wanda!?!?!? I just added ALL of Louisa Smith's Strips 'n Curves templates to my website and I also added all 3 of her current books. She has 10 different template sets. Thanks for your encouragement. I wish we lived closer- I'd love to "play" together with the templates. http://www.alderwoodquilts.com
