I have my colorwash sewn together in one direction. It is webbed together with just a stitch or 2 between rows holding it together. It will lose 6" with the seams sewn the other direction.
Once again my quilt and nature scenes are the same colors. The Indigo Bunting did not disappoint me and stopped by yesterday morning.
I hope he will stick around a couple days. The Indigo Buntings always migrate through here about the same time as the Rose Breasted Grosbeaks so when I see one of them I'm on alert looking for the other one.
I was determined to get this quilt top sewn together yesterday. It is about 60" X 72". In case you don't remember from previous posts it is a pattern by Anne of SpringLeaf Studios. Her version on the pattern cover is in blues and greens and is very pretty.
lt covered most of this double design wall before it was sewn.
It was another beautiful sunny day yesterday and I mowed the grass again. It sounds like rain coming our way again this week so maybe I'll get my other quilt top sewn together too.
After a very rainy week (about 5") we had a beautiful day yesterday. Blooming Redbuds against a cloudless blue sky.
I got lots of sewing done but nothing new to show. I now have 8 columns out of 10 sewn on the Cascade quilt and webbed together. I am getting very close to a finish.
All of the "pickle" insert blocks are pressed and ready for the design wall.
The Brunnera flowers were just glowing bright blue in the shade. To the left of it is the Lungwort/Pulmonaria with the last blooms. In the background and all around these plants are Lily of the Valley. It has totally invaded and taken over the flowerbeds. My advice: don't plant it unless you want it everywhere. It spreads underground and my soil is very fertile and easy to turn over so the roots are just going wild.
I had some Hostas in pots last year and didn't get them planted before the cold hit. I put the pots up next to the house and hoped for the best. They are coming up in all of the pots and should have a really good root base now.
I did my first digging yesterday and divided and moved some Sedum plants.
The last of the "pickle" insert blocks have been sewn but need a final pressing. Next is laying out the blocks on a double design wall.
I have been working an all cool colors colorwash while I am doing the 40 day live section of my Colorwash360 online class. I took this photo so I could rotate the photo on my computer and decide which edge is the top. After rotating it to all 4 positions I decided I like it just like I designed it. Now I can sew it together.
I was so excited to see the Rose Breasted Grosbeaks in my backyard yesterday morning.

They are too big to fit inside the grid of this feeder but this one was just resting until there was a space for him on the other open feeder.
I got all of my blocks pressed yesterday and chose large triangles to pair with the pieced pickle insert triangles. I counted all of the blocks and have 132 and I need 130. As soon as I sew on all of the large triangles I can get to the design wall and finalize the layout and sew the top together.
I'm getting more done on the 2 quilts in progress. I think I have all of the pieced triangles sewn that I need for the "pickle" insert quilt. After I press them I can add the large triangle. I have blocks sewn for 3 more columns of the Cascade quilt. I still have to sew the blocks for the last two columns. I need to turn the iron on today.
We have had so much rain this week that the birdbath is really full. It has too much water in it for the small birds but the robins are loving taking their baths in there. I took advantage of the mostly dry day yesterday to mow the grass. It was really tall since it had been a week and a half since I mowed it the first time. The backyard grass doesn't grow as fast so I haven't had to mow it yet.
The Redbud blooms survived the snow and cold temperatures on Sunday. Usually when we get a lot of rain while they are blooming they lose their petals but this time the buds were just opening so they survived.
When I posted this finish at the beginning of April I called it the first finish of the month. It ended up being the only finish of the month. This 16 patch is 53.5" x 72" and I love the fabric assortment in it.
I finished sewing 2 quilt tops. The red One Block Wonder is 45.5" x 64". The Snail's Trail is 60" x 72".
I have some favorite fabrics in this quilt and here are two of them.

I have always loved this cheetah fabric and have it in 2 colorways.
