I sewed 5 more cross rows on the zig zag quilt. It is slow going matching the points.
Last night I decided to lay some of my little bits blocks on fabrics to simulate sashing. I have no idea what I'm going to make out of them so this was just play time.
This one was a little shocking.
I have thought of bordering each little square and alternating light and dark also. Just playing............

I really like the 3rd idea! But if you choose not to go that direction, I think I like the black batik best.

I think the shocking background is neat. It makes the blocks look 3D. Thanks for sharing your playtime with us. I always rush through playing. Or play so long I get bored!
I like Shocking too. It seems more Exhuberantly Wandaful. and I wouldn't just sash, but set them in so that they go at wonky angles.
How I would love to come play at your house for a while!! Instead, I have to go to work. I love these little blocks. I think the black sets them off really well. Have fun :).
According to some, Lime green is a neutral color!! I love that one, but that is one of my favorite colors to use. I also think that a hot fuschia or orange might pop it all. Love how you play with the scraps. I cannot toss the bits out either!! Keep playing!! Gail Norback
I love the green...I am a big fan of dots and shocking is where it's at. Combine them and you have a winner!
I like the way the lime green makes it appear 3-D. I also like the intensity of the black batik with it - shows off the colors better. Have fun!
I'm ready to be shocked this morning! 8^) I'm also thinking these kinds of spontaneous piecing are perfect for sewing during our quilt group sessions. Interruptions for talking and "come and see" won't hinder the overall project.
I love making those scrap blocks. I make them sometimes when I am cleaning up my sewing area. Rather than put them away I fit them together, great stress reliever. I like the black batik a lot.

I'm in the "Shocking" camp! I think that looks like fun. And I love to "watch" you play, Wanda. You're very educational and inspiring. No matter what you do, it'll be great.
I adore those little blocks. What about sewing them into strips, then adding sashing? Of course, that takes away from the smallness of them. Or a checkerboard with a single fabric for the other part of the check?
I actually really like the lime background... which surprises me because I tend to like colors a bit more subdued. I think your exuberance is contagious! =P

I just love these and enjoy watching you play. I actually like that lime green...there could be something wrong with me...but I don't mind! :-)
I recently saw a jacket with little squares about the size of yours. They were sewn like raw edge applique, similar to the way you have them laid out.
So glad your hip is better and your Dad also is better. I love your Kaffe charm quilt. I come to your blog many times anticipating seeing Kaffe Fasset fabrics. A feast for the eyes.
I have some of that lime green and wish I had bought several yards, I love it!
