Not all are batik.......
Of the fabrics I showed yesterday, the ones on the left are batiks and the ones on the right are regular quilt fabric. The limey green one on the right is a Patrick Lose print from 1996.
I cut a few of every size piece I needed just to try some blocks. I didn't have enough pieces cut to complete a block so I didn't sew anything yet. I can see I need a couple more light fabrics. I cut some more pieces after I took this picture so I can finish these 2 blocks and play with some more.
I didn't want to go out Wed. because I thought it was too cold and instead I went out yesterday which was even colder and ran all of my errands. I hope I can stay home most of today. The icy weather is south of us but we might get snow tonight.

The colors are just gorgeous!! The deep purples paired with the greens are fantastic. This quilt will be gorgeous. Stay warm today!! I do have to go out and it has turned bitterly cold.

Oh! I love those fabrics. The purple really goes well with the lime. I can never seem to find light coloured batiks. They are either too light or they fall into the dark category. Can't wait to see how this comes out. It is very cold here today. I'm staying close to my sewing machine.
This is a wonderful pattern. I know it as Star of Bethlehem, but it probably has other names, too. I think it is a great idea to combine this classical pattern with unusual colors.
What a wonderful way to truly audition colors. As usual, I have a question (sorry!) and that is, how do you avoid "wasting" fabric after you decide not to use it but you've already cut it into small patches?
I love this whole auditioning business. I mean, I love that you're doing it because then maybe I'll get in the habit of doing it myself. Oh you're so good for me to hang out with!
Ooooh... I really like those colors, and it is cool to see how 'regular' quilt fabric works with batiks.
Those fabrics all work together so nicely!! You really are getting a tapestry effect with those colours! It was bitterly cold here Thursday and Friday, with wind chill values of -17C. I think it's going to start warming up now.
