More triangles sewn...........

I sewed more triangles after I set up the new modem/router but I didn't take any photos.  I did get some more photos of early growth in the garden.  The Hostas are slow coming up.  This is the most advanced growth so far.

I love the Sedum at this early stage.  It has grown about 2 inches since I posted the last photos.

This is the other variety.  It has a little purple tinge to the green as it grows.  The flower is also slightly different.

This little Coral Bell in the back garden never seems to grow much.  It keeps its color and a few leaves all winter so it is really hardy.

New Modem and router..............

The good news - the equipment arrived.  The bad news - the fact that they expect an 80 year old person to self install.  If I don't have a post tomorrow you will know I wasn't successful.

3:45 p.m.  Good news! I got it hooked up.  Now let's hope it continues working.

Sunday fun..........

I pressed my Hugs and Kisses pink baby quilt top yesterday.  It is 40" square.  I won't quilt it until next month because I already have a line up for this month's finishes.

This is the group of sewn squares so far for the second pink quilt and I will need to sew a lot more.

I cut a new batch of triangles yesterday.  If I cut more they will be duplicates of some that I have already used.  I just need to make a decision if this is a medium size child's quilt or an adult throw quilt.

This is the pile of dead Goldenrod stalks that I broke off and took to the weed pile.  I pull all of the Goldenrod that I see coming up in the spring but there still is a lot of it that sneaks in and blooms in the fall....which makes more Goldenrod the next year.

I think I have mentioned before that my Rose of Sharon is coming up everywhere.  This is what 1-3 year growth looks like on about a hundred new volunteers.  A lot more of them were behind these but I cut them off at the ground when my painters were coming last fall to do the window trim.

The Easter Bunny stopped by yesterday to leave me some flowers and chocolate.  I ate 2/3 of the chocolate bunny - 280 calories and I loved every one of them.

Nature walk on Easter morning...........

I pulled out all of my vintage Easter postcards for a group photo.  They are all from the early 1900s.

I found a lot of blooms around my yard.  This is the most daffodils I've had in years.  They must have liked the winter weather.

Right near them was this little flower growing in the grass.  At first I though it was a hyacinth but now I'm not sure.  I didn't plant it, the squirrels must have done it.

This is another I didn't plant.  There are 2 clumps of them in the back garden.  I showed them last year and someone told me what they were but I didn't go back in my blog to check on it.

The Periwinkle Vinca continues to take over the whole front flower bed.  It is pretty but I just don't want so much of it.

I still have blooming inside too.   There are 3 more buds on the orange one and on the shelf below are the 2 pale pink ready to open.  I think this will probably be the end of the cacti blooming season.

It got up to 69 degrees yesterday and now we are expecting 3-4 days of 70s.  I have lots of outside clean up to do so I'll enjoy doing it with this warmth.

More pink goodness...............

I cut the remaining long hexagons and got the pink x and o quilt top sewn together but it isn't pressed yet.

I have 2 fabrics that are large enough for the back of this baby quilt so I will have to make a decision and get it pressed.

Then I sewed some more triangles into squares for the next pink quilt.

I spent most of the morning and some of the night before on the phone trying to solve a wi-fi problem.  Suddenly Wednesday night I had no internet signal in my studio and I carried the laptop to the area where the modem is and it connected, took it back, it disconnected.  I called them and after spending hours of trying things and discussion they are sending me a new modem thinking that the router in it has failed.  Right now my laptop and smartphone have to be within 12 feet of the modem to get a signal.  I'm not sure this is the right fix but I'll try it.

Pink............

Since I finally had all of the loose pieces of the last project off the design wall I vacuumed the studio and then put the pink pieces up.  I wanted to see if I had enough or needed to cut some more pinks.  I have all of the corners already cut.  I need 6 more elongated hexagons so I'll check to see which fabrics I have left.  I think I want some more of the darker pinks rather than the really pale ones.

My low tire light has been coming on about every 6 weeks so my son finally took it in to the dealer to have it checked and there was a piece of metal embedded in the tread giving it a slow leak.  He ran it through the car wash on the way back.

My toilet was having some issues lately and I finally broke down and called a plumber.  It was just a gasket replacement.  He showed me the old one with a huge curve to it.  He said they are supposed to be totally flat.  The old one was sealing part of the time and leaking the rest of the time.  Luckily all of the leak was in the bowl and not on the floor.  Two good things taken care of plus a clean floor in the studio.  That is a good day.

March 2021 Monthly recap............

I had 3 finishes in March.  The table runner is a long one 18 x 53".  The Bear Paw quilt is all batik fabrics and is 54" x 67.5".  The Kaffe Collective cool 16 patch is 59" x 79.5.

I completed one quilt top, ZAP! which is 53" x 65".

For my own record I need to document the finish of this quilt in addition to the photo in the collage above.

It is made of mostly Kaffe Collective prints with the exception of a  Martha Negley print as the insert fabric on both sides.

The backing fabric is the same Martha Negley print with an insert of the 3 leftover blocks.

I decided I needed to look one more time for the binding fabric and this third choice is the one I used.  The other 2 were shown yesterday.
