Stash enhancement.........
I had a new ceiling fan installed in my dining room yesterday. My electrician is also my friend so we had fun chatting too. He also solved a problem with my kitchen ceiling fan. While they were here I got a package in the mail....a little stash enhancement....selected pieces from the new Marcia Derse line. I didn't sew a stitch all day.

Mixing in the new blocks.........
I sewed 24 more 16 patch blocks yesterday. Here they are ready for pressing.
This is the group of new color combinations and there are 3 blocks in each stack
I mixed them in with the others. It looks a lot lighter here than it does in person. It is really a rich deep toned group. Right now this would measure 28" x 32" so there is a long way to go yet. I haven't decided on a big new project yet. I need to make a list of everything that needs to get done before the family all get here Thanksgiving week and plan all of that first.

Cutting.........
I had lots of photography to take care of yesterday so I only got the strata pressed and a few of them cut. I laid out a few 16 patches so I can see how they will look when sewn.
We got almost a half inch of rain yesterday and a quarter inch a few days earlier in the week. I'm happy we got one sunny day between the storms. We still haven't had a killing frost so I have a few pots of geraniums and begonias still out by my garage.

Stratas...........
My daughter-in-law came over yesterday morning and helped me empty all of my pots and clean up the garden spaces. She did the heavy work, I did some light work.
Last night I sewed some more stratas for the 4" finished 16 patch blocks. I had the idea yesterday of adding in some 8" blocks too. I will probably play with the idea on the design wall next week.
My cactus plants don't have a lot of blooms at one time so I was happy to have 3 at once.
I'm hoping for constant blooming all winter with all of my plants. I think I still have over 20 of them but a couple of them aren't looking so good. I think I need to re-pot some of them in new nutrient rich soil.

Fun time blocks................
I got the other 5 stratas cut and made into 16 patch blocks last night. This is 10 stacks of 3 blocks each.
Since the blocks are only 4" finished this would only be 20" x 24" if I sewed it now and I have no use for something that size. I will continue to sew stratas and make more blocks.
My next Pop-up Shop is ready to open on Monday at noon EST. Subscribers will be receiving an email with the private link for early access to the shop. If you are not a subscriber yet, this is the last call for the early access to the Pop-up Shop and you can sign up here. If you have any friends that you think would be interested, please have them sign up too.

Playtime sewing again........
I didn't have any project lined up to sew on while I watched TV. The box of 1.5" strips was still sitting there so I pulled out 2 contrasting values and stared making 4.5" 16 patch blocks. There are 3 blocks in each of the stacks and another 5 stratas that I need to slice and resew. That should keep me busy this week until I come up with a "real" project.

October monthly recap.........
I'm pretty happy with my October sewing. I finished three quilt tops, 2 that were in progress previously and one that was started and finished in October. From left to right: Australian fabric Hunter Star 59" x 70", Batik kite star 61" x 76" and Australian fabric triangles 60" x 80".
Even though 2 of them are made from Australian fabrics I limited my choices in the Hunter star and had very little green and orange. In the triangle quilt however I used all of my collection so there are golds, oranges and quite a bit of green in it along with the same fabrics that are in Hunter Star.
The month was busy with my daughter here for 2 weeks while we worked together on my new website and pop-up shop that was open for 14 days. There were many trips to post office. November will be busy too with my whole family coming for Thanksgiving. I haven't seen all of my grandchildren together for many years so I hope the weather cooperates.
