Red binding.............

I sewed the binding on this red crazy pieced quilt yesterday afternoon and last night started the hand stitching.  I have one long side and half of one short side done.  At this rate it may take me 3 sessions to finish it.  I rarely do hand stitching during the daytime hours.

We had freezing rain last night....I think this is the third time since the beginning of the year.   I haven't tested any outside surface to see how slick it is.  I'm staying in today.  More hours for quilting.

Hand stitching a binding down is good work in your weather... we are warm down here ... but almost drowning.... almost 3" of rain in the last 24 hours. Cold coming... We were talking about life in Chicago. We miss living there, but not the weather and your report this morning confirms it!!! I remember our first winter there, one of the top 5 snowiest with something like 56". Setting records down here too!!!!

That binding looks fabulous! We had rain all night but the temps are above freezing so my trip to work was fine. Tomorrow they are calling for snow. I think staying inside and sewing is a good call!

I have that fabric you have for your backing and binding :) I still have a nice size piece leftover from the second Dear Jane that I made in two colors that being one of them. I had bought a whole bolt of it on sale.

Wanda, I went out to get the newspaper this morning, and came right back in the house. Everything is iced over, and no paper delivery are good reasons to stay inside and be safe. Take care.

That dark red binding is perfect! Hand stitching does take a while--and I do any of mine during daylight also...hugs, Julierose

Freezing rain right now here. I will stay in and quilt and sew. I just love the rich reds.

We've had rain here too, but luckily it just turned to slush and was not slippery. Your binding looks great against those red rails. It takes me several sessions to get a binding hand stitched too. I think it is better on the hands and wrists to spread it out instead of trying to do it all at once.

Nice progress on your brilliant red quilt. Your choice of backing and binding adds to its already beauty.

Hope it warms up to melt your ice away. What an unusual winter this year no matter where you live.
