Another idea...........

In some down time yesterday I was looking through a magazine and saw this quilt made with just 6 fabrics in the Kaffe collective line.  Some of the prints are large and every cut looks different so it gives the appearance of having more fabrics in it.  What caught my eye though was the bricks placed vertically in the quilt.  I placed them horizontal like a real brick wall in my neutral bricks quilt.  I have done colorwash with the vertical placement but not with random fabrics like this.  I like this vertical placement and may have to try it but I doubt I could do it with only 6 fabrics.

Amazing use of fabrics, I think...it's interesting how just placement will affect the outcome...hugs, Julierose

That is a pretty quilt with the contrast of the cool and warm colors.

The fabric cuts would have to be just perfect to work. I love seeing such a colorful quilt on a grey morning.

Good morning Wanda.....Such a bright, happy looking quilt and I look forward to seeing your version of it with Kaffe's fabrics. Enjoy your day.

The more fabric, the more color and pattern . . . those are the things that make a handmade quilt so special. My favorite quilts are those made from scraps. Kind of like Joseph's coat of many colors :)

Go on Wanda make one. It's good to go out of your comfort zone. LOL.

Anything with just 6 fabrics is a challenge!

Lots of early bird commenters this morning. Of course we're in different time zones. I too like the quilt and a good one to study to try and find the 6 fabrics.

I really like the look of that quilt. I might even pop in a preprinted panel if I made one along those lines.

It IS pretty, though. I've saved it to look at again. ;)

YOU could do it, but you’d need the right six fabrics. Which, of course, is the thing!

I really admire people who can exercise the artistic restraint required to make a quilt with just six fabrics. (I wonder what it feels like to be Kaffe Fassett?)

Meanwhile, I've started a simple quilt that uses strips and a background fabric that gives a "weaving" effect, and I'm flirting with the idea of making a bunch of wonky house blocks to see if a quilt might come of those.

Best wishes,

Hi Wanda - Can you tell me which Kaffe book the red bricks pattern is in? I love this quilt and have the 4 x 8 die and have been looking for a good way to use his fabric which I have a lot of and this pattern would be a great way of using it. Have a great Thanksgiving too. Thanks for any help you can give me.
