A visitor's quilt.........

My niece Karen stopped by to show me the quilt she is working on.  She learned crazy piecing from me at her guild's workshop this spring.

I took photos from two angles.  She has 90 blocks sewn together now and is thinking of adding one more row on each of the 4 sides to fit her queen size bed.  I just love it and think she is doing a great job on it.

Look what came in the mail Friday!!  My favorite quilt in it is of course made with triangles.  Antique quilts were the inspiration for the quilts in this book.

There have been some questions about the Colorwash 360 class in the comments.  Please email me and I can help you.

I love the quilt on the cover of the book - I do not have any of his books I might have to look at that one if I see it in a shop and decide if I would want it. Your niece's quilt is great - I bet it is nice to see a family member quilt or maybe you have other's that do as well.

Karen’s quilt is really fun. She is doing a great job of contrasting color and scale.

What a fun quilt. I love the plaids, and it is really cool to see this done is 2 such different color treatments between your quilt and hers.

Autumn and plaids just go together ! Karen has created the WOW factor with her quilt, color rich and exciting. Beautiful work.

You have no idea how you influence me with your blog... Just have to get the Kaffe Fassett magazine, even though you know I'm not a quilter, I love the "show 'n tell".

She certainly is doing a good job with her quilt. I received my book last week and there are five marked already as "need to make" quilts!!

I love seeing all of Karen's blocks together, it's going to make a beautiful quilt and the plaids are great! Between our Aunt and our Mom we could not have had better teachers for inspired sewing!

What a GORGEOUS plaid quilt in the making. She obviously learned your method very well. And that book - I've just added it to my wish list (there's a birthday coming soon). Do let us know how you like it after you've had time to read through it more.

Yes! Your niece definitely caught on, it’s a great quilt. She must’ve been a quilter for a while to tackle such a huge project. Will she also quilt it herself? I could make a top like that but would never attempt to quilt anything that huge. Hopefully she knows a good professional long arm quilter - and doesn’t expect her fsmous auntie to do it for her as a favor!
I know you’ll enjoy your new Kaffe book!

Crazy piecing - I LOVE it. Could you do a tutorial on it? (or have you already and I missed it?) LOVE your blog - I only read two now, and you are one of them. Thanks so much for all your inspiration!
