New project............

I love making the Northwind blocks so I'm making a smaller version this time.  I put the 4 leftover blocks from the last quilt up there so you can see how much smaller this new one is.  The original quilt had 9" blocks and this one has 6" blocks.  I plan on making about 90-95 blocks from which to choose the 80 blocks I need for a 48" x 60" wallhanging.  I will be concentrating on light blocks now.  The contrast isn't as high as it looks in this photo; it is much softer looking.

After my company left I went out and pulled more weeds and a bunch of Goldenrod.  It is hot and humid and it's expected to stick around for a few days so I'll be doing more cutting and sewing in my cool basement after I get my hair cut this morning.

With this weather don't over do it. Your smaller quilt is looking great. Wasn't sure what you were teasing us with when you showed us what you had cut up. Looks like you are enjoying it. Chris

Where can I get the patterns for Crooked Cobblestones 1 and Northwinds?

Those triangles have to be rather small when making a 6" block! This quilt does shimmer!

I love that block too - this will be really neat as always - hot and humid too - getting into the real summer weather now.

Wanda....I have been waiting for you to start on the lights. :) They look great from here! I enjoy the 6" blocks (Farmer's Wife Sampler was *fun*)...they are more petite, but just as much eye-pleasing potential!

Beautiful, Wanda. Your innovative color combinations really give this block a bright new look. I have always known it as the Corn and Beans block.

Another Northwind to watch grow... I agree it is such a pretty one to watch grow.

Would you believe I turned on our furnace this morning ! 41 here in the valley this morning. Snow in the mountains with a good 1" of rain over night. We rarely get rain that is the surprising part.

Big or small, your colors on Northwind are glowingly alive. You are making me think about trying so many triangles.

I've never made that block but I like it a lot. I need to add it to my "list"

That block is beautiful - especially the way you make it.
While Goldenrod may be a weed in your neck of the woods, it is actually - and surprisingly - the Kentucky state flower! So I would never pull it. (Which is easy to say because it is a rare day indeed when you find me weeding anything, and I love the wild look and any wild flower is welcome where I live.)
