Lots of paper piecing....

It was a bright sunny day yesterday so I had a little more ambition to get something accomplished.  I finished the 2 paper pieced borders for the flannel quilt.  I will trim the excess off the end After I sew them on the quilt.  Now I just have to decide which fabric and how wide for the strip of fabric between the center and the borders.
I got 9 more blocks made for this quilt and sewed the corners on the 2 blocks that were missing them.  I have 12 more to make or I could stop at 35 for a rectangular quilt.  I have fabrics already cut for 6 more so I'll analyze it after I make those and decide which colors I need more of for the last few blocks.

They look great - of course the batik is my favorite.

Very pretty! I am always amazed at how much you get accomplished in a day.

I see the borders more as dark-against-light than as light-against-dark, and so to my eye, the border's "teeth" are biting inward. If you haven't already done so, may I suggest turning the borders around so that the "teeth" point outward -- just to see if you like that better -- before you sew them on.

It's a striking quilt. From a color standpoint, I admire your restraint in the Rattlesnake quilt just as much as I admire your exuberance in other quilts. Value is the key, of course, as we both know.

Cheers,
Frebblebit

They both look great! I'm sure the flannel presented a few challenges with the bulk. I love the batiks!

They're both stunning! You can't beat spikes and curves together, imo. I adore the batik one - it is really a beauty!

Beautiful work! Did you paper piece the border with flannel? Never used flannel on paper piecing before...

These two designs have such PIZAZZ, they have been pure joy to watch grow.

I'm loving the rattlesnake quilt. Daughter said it looks like a Venus Fly Trap. How's that for a new name?!?!? :)

Beautiful! Love the colors in your flannel quilt. Hoping for many more sunny days - although I hear we've got more snow on the way.

Your spikes (and their companion pieces are gorgeous. I love the arrangement, too, so far. I agree with your methodology of making decisions as you go (e.g., how many blocks, decisions on borders, etc.). It's nice to have a plan, but lovely things happen when you also leave room for serendipity and instinct to come into play.

Love each and every one of these. So rich and full of color.

The snow missed us and that is good since we have about 3 feet on the ground from the last one. Hope you finally got something.
