Migraine dullsville.........

I got up with a migraine yesterday and spent most of the day in dullsville.  A cool front came through and gave us a little rain early in the morning and we really needed it.

After I started feeling better I started washing the little kids clothes that I have been storing in my attic.  I brought them down when I was cleaning up there.  This little vest is about a size 6 and I made it for my first granddaughter.
This is the other side (reversible).  I had forgotten about it.  My daughter in law gave me back all of the clothes that I had made for the first granddaughter, which were then passed down to the next 2.  My house is the only one with a storage area.  I decided I needed to wash them and make sure they are still in decent condition after being up in the extreme heat and extreme cold of the attic for about 10 years.
There was also a box of clothes that I had made for my daughter in the mid 1960s.  This little dress was made with the iron on transfer of blue dots for the smocking.  This is one of 3 dresses with smocking.
My 2 tomato plants have been loving the hot weather way more than I have.  We finally got a cooler day (only 80 degrees) yesterday and lower humidity.
I saw 2 baby bunnies in the back yard and ran to get the camera.  They were nose to nose when I saw them and by the time I got back one was running the other out of 'his or her' territory.  There is enough creeping Charlie for both of them.

Well I'll tell you one thing - this post sure isn't dullsville. Fun to see the work you've done for your grandchildren, the good tomato plant (some folks have a hard time with those) and oh my the cuteamous bunny! Thank you for that treat over coffee. (ps: hope you continue to feel better)

I've hung up some of the clothes my mom made for me in the 1960's in my sewing room--art on the walls.
One little coat was made from her wedding suit.
Love that smocking.

Sorry about the migraine. I hate those. :/ The vest is adorable and the smocked dress timeless. :D

Hope that awful migraine is a thing of the past! What a cute vest... and the blue transfer dot smocking... I've done some of that in my time as well!

I love bunnies in the yard...

We've been having the same temps lately too with a mugginess. we got rain last night at supper time though that cleared the air. i still woke with a dull headache this morning. These kind of days are just a little slower that the others. It's still good to do a little something though.
I too have some of those dresses and even some overalls with smocking on the front. My mother-in-law did some and so did I. They're fun to see.

I remember the blue-dot iron on transfer for smocking - I did a maternity top for myself with smocking about a hundred years ago. Hope your migraine is all gone - they are such a drag.

I hope the headache goes away soon. The children's clothing are so cute - what will happen to them now - give them away to give back to the family for them to decide?

your picture of smocking brought back to mind the baptismal gown I smocked for my daughter. The blue dots would not wash out. So I was looking at a gown with horrible blue dots all over the bodice. This was the night before the baptism. My solution was to sew rows and rows of lace over the smocking. It was pretty with the lace, but a disappointment that the smocking could not be seen.

That dress is adorable. I've always loved smocking and did a little on a doll dress years ago.
Our tomatoes are lovin' the heat also. Today we are supossed to get rain and cooler weather, I'm hoping.

I'm so glad you are feeling better. It was fun seeing all the beautifully sewn garments you made for the children in your life.

Glad you are feeling better. I remember the smocked dresses! So cute and it looks like the fabric held up well through the years.

Sorry to read about your migraine - I used to be a sufferer but coming off "the pill" fixed that!

I love the vest and the smocked dress. Well done.

I knitted several very colourful vests for my daughter when she was small - I then gave them to my sister for her two daughters. They would have ended up at the local op shop (Goodwill store) - I hope someone appreciated them!

Oh I love that little dress with the smocking. I had a few of those myself. Lucky grandkids!

That little smocked dress! So pretty. It makes my fingers itch to make one.

I have made a few of those blue dot smocked dresses in my lifetime. Now they have that fancy pleating machine. LOL Your clothing brought back memories of the clothes I made for my grandchildren. I supplied them with clothes for the summer and then some. Wow, tomatoes soon. I can't wait for the fresh veggies. Enjoy your weekend and without a migrane.

Sorry you had another migraine. Love that PURPLE vest. Smocking gives me a headache. You have the most patience of anyone I know. You must have to do all that beautiful smocking. Cute bunny. Do they eat your flowers?
