Checking out the flowers......

I have had the 3 big pots that sit in front of my garage inside for 2 days.  I decided to put them back out last night because it sounds like today might be partly cloudy.  You can see on the purple leaf to the left that this plant got sunburned.
The lilies don't seem to mind the hot weather.
The yellow lily hasn't bloomed well since I moved it 3 years ago.  This year however it had a lot of blossoms.
I got my hair cut yesterday and went to embroidery club.  Then I finished reading the last half of the last Harry Potter book.  Now I can go see the movie.

The flowers look great!! My daughter is going again, for the second time, today to see Harry! I must get my act together.

Do you know what the name of the purple plant is in picture one? We planted one and someone wants to know what it's called. Thanks!

It's nice to have a day off. I've not read the books--not sure why because I'm a big reader and love to read before the movie. However, I've seen the movies and would like to get to the last one.

I hope the clouds bring you some cooler weather. Daylilies love the heat - they do quite well here where we hover near or above 100 degrees all summer long.

the lilies are about the only flowers I have left this summer - the leaves have mostly all died off on them though so the beds look horrible.

Love your flowers! I moved some of mine to my front porch. It's on the north side so doesn't get the afternoon sun. We had our cooler day yesterday, even 1/2" of rain, still plenty humid but in the high 80s instead of 90s. Enjoy, they say we are back up to 98 today.

Hi Wanda,
Looks like your plants are suffering in the heat, too. The ones I have that don't seem to mind are purple coneflower, geranium, butterfly bush, and of course the sedums. The rest are limping along.

Does your basement stay nice and cool so you can at least sew a little?
Keep cool!

I love your garden pictures. Did you have any Phlox this year? Mine got thoroughly toasted! We expect triple digits today again.

It's amazing to me that plants can survive in this heat. Your daisy & lily photo is a prize winner. It's beautiful.

Love your yellow daylily! Hopefully the weather will get a bit cooler. My daylilies and coneflowers are doing well. My coleus is in the shade, so it's okay too. We had two drops of rain this afternoon.

Your plants look lovely. Today I found a culprit on my zinnia. I have been noticing some holes in some of the leaves. I found a little worm on it today but I have so many zinnias coming up that I will let it be for now. Tomorrow I will soap and water it. Hopefully that will take care of it. Thank God for the rain this morning. The sewing room is clean so now time to make it messy again.
