One more basted...

I had one more top I wanted to spray baste before I take the newspaper mask off the design wall.  This is the one labeled my second favorite on my right side bar.  I hope it is still a favorite after I quilt it.  My plan is to have a couple rows of stitching in each of those tiny pieces in matching rayon embroidery thread.  I will ditch quilt it along several of the seams to stabilize it first.

I decided to leave the edge on the Journal Quilt I posted last night.  I figure I have 52 chances to find an edge finish I like best if I make a Journal Quilt every week in 2011.

Do you like the spray basting product? I would like to get my Mother to try it but she has allergies so bad not sure she could work with it. Chris

I am sure that once it is quilted you will love it even more. There is a thread that I like to use on my long arm that is perfect for a batik quilt like this. It is from Superior threads, it is a "rayon/poly" so it has a sheen to it, the color is called Brass Band (variegated), it is from their Rainbows line. Here is the link: http://www.superiorthreads.com/shop/search/?keywords=brass+band It comes in two sizes, but I use the large cone. I think you will love the color. My customers always do.

The stitching in this piece is going to be thrilling to see. I think it absolutely will continue to be a favorite. Even more than you ever imagined.

I've always liked your two favs, Wanda. Can you share the link for the video you saw on "vertical" basting? I'd like to try it.

You are indeed a prolific quilter! Explain about the spray basting: do you pin the backing up on your newspapaper-covered wall, spray it, and then adhere batting and top to it? It never occurred to me to try spray-basting on a wall before, so I'm intrigued.

I love the strip quilts.
I am having trouble staying concentrated on working on stuff for my solo show. I keep wanting to switch to quilting when I look at your blog.
Have a great day.

Hello Wanda,

I like the combination of the colors and the different sized blocks in your quilt. That adds a lot of visual interest!

Have a great weekend,
Judy

Wanda, this is a really fun quilt. The vertical spray basting really interests me, could you post where you saw the video, please?

Your pieces are beautiful! I also baste on the wall. Here's a hint--try using a cheap shower curtain instead of newspaper on your wall. It goes up very easily and can be thrown in the washer when it's sticky.

Is this pieced like a string quilt on a piece of muslim? I love the modern feel.
