Small finish........

I always have two or three dishcloths on the needles at the same time.  I finished both of these this week so now I can choose two new colors to cast on.

I also finished basting the gray dotty quilt.  We had severe thunderstorm warnings and a tornado watch so I decided the basement was the best place to be.  It turned out to be quite a bit of rain.  I bought a rain gauge so I will go out and check it later this morning.  We got .35" yesterday morning.

A finish.......

I finished the binding and hanging sleeve yesterday morning.  It should be a nice cheery addition to someone's wall.  It is 46.5" x 35".  I got more quilting done on the Fractured quilt and a little more basting done.  Nothing photo-worthy there.

I set my post for 5 a.m. yesterday and when I first checked it at 7 a.m. it still hadn't posted.  I'm taking a chance that it was just an off day for Blogger's timer and set this one for 5 a.m. again.

Have you asked me a question and I haven't answered you?  If so it's because you are a 'no reply' and there is no link for me to get back to you.  I have an email link in my profile and another on my side bar.  If you have a question, please email me.  I answer all emails.

Worked on three...........

Gray dotty zig zag is on the basting table.  I pieced the back and got it layered before lunch and in the afternoon I got 4 full length rows basted on it.  I'm linking to the HSTeria quilt along (Link button on right side bar) because it is triangles, but it's not new.  I finished the top a year ago and am just now getting ready to quilt it.  Full shot of it here.

In the morning yesterday I worked on the binding on the star quilt and thought I would finish it but instead I spent a few hours quilting in the ditch on this Fractured quilt.  I'm somewhere between 1/2 and 1/3 done with that part of the quilting.

Another one basted.......

Every time I went down to the basement yesterday I put in a few lines of basting and by early evening it was done.  I plan to start quilting it today.

Last night I sewed the binding onto the star quilt and started the hand stitching.  I got one and a half sides done.

The weather was heavenly yesterday, in the 70s with a nice breeze through the house.  Today will be a little warmer but still low humidity.

Quilting progress.........

I had ditch quilted around the border, both sides of sashing and around stars and then did meandering in the border.  I was trying to decide how to quilt the sashing because I didn't want white thread running through black dots.  I finally looked at it and saw that the dots were in diagonal rows so I quilted 2 lines in one direction and one the other direction and it looks great.  I have trimmed it, cut the binding and the hanging sleeve so it will be finished very soon.  Last night I appliqued 3 more circles on the other project, 5 down, 13 to go.

Sewing centers.....

I am finally appliqueing the centers on the Spin blocks.  I was going to do them by machine with monofilament thread and the pick stitch but I decided if it got off center by even a tiny bit, that wouldn't be fun to rip out.  I started hand appliqueing and don't like the thread color on the first one so I'll pull that out.  I did 2 more with a better match of thread color.  Two down and 16 to go.
I was a winner on Vicki Welsh's week of giveaways and I won the art glass soap dish and a bar of her handmade soap.

I just love them!!

Due to popular request - Recipe..........

Here is the pan that I baked this dessert in.  I have 2 of them so I was able to make 16 little cakes.  The friend who gave me the recipe called it holiday squares.  I bake it year round, I don't need a holiday!

Here is the recipe:
Cream together 1 1/2 cups sugar and 1 cup softened butter.

Add 4 eggs, one at a time, beating after each one.
Beat in 1 T. lemon juice

Blend in 2 c. flour.

Batter will be thick.  Recipe says spread in greased and floured 13" x 9" pan.  I used the pans pictured above and used the baking spray that has flour in it.
1 can cherry pie filling, about 4-5 cherries on top of each small pan or evenly spaced on 13" x 9" pan.  I then spoon all of the leftover liquid on top of each little cake.

Bake at 350 degrees, 45-50 min for 13" x 9" or 35 min. for little individual pans.

While still warm sprinkle with powdered sugar.

I didn't end up sewing at all because our rain held off until after midnight.  I was out cutting and pulling more huge weeds.  In one of my flower beds the birds planted a black raspberry bush.  I noticed it a few days ago and decided to inspect it a little closer.  That is a 5 oz. paper cup a little over half full.  I usually dig out all of the volunteer raspberry shoots in the fall but I missed this one.  Now I have to decide whether to leave it there and get scratched every time I work in that flower bed or just pull it out in the fall.  My neighbors behind me have the original bushes.
