It is so cute!........................

Once in a while I see a fabric line that is so cute I just have to have some of it.  It is called Fox Wood and is by Windham fabrics.  That fox is so cute but I couldn't leave the birds behind and why not get the nice confetti print too while I'm at it.

For a few years we had mallard ducks on the farm where I grew up.  Every afternoon half of them would go around the house to the west side and the rest of them were on the east side.  The group on the west side would then start calling to the others and wouldn't stop until they came around and joined them.  It seems like it happened every day but probably in reality wasn't that often.

We had geese, but all white ones when I was small and they used to chase me and nipped the backs of my legs.  When my mother heard me screaming she always knew what was happening.

We ate wild game often and I remember the buckshot in the pheasants.   We had to be careful when we ate it.  Dad would shoot rabbits and squirrels when there wasn't anything else available for our evening meal.

The cutest of all is the fox.  I don't remember seeing foxes when I was little but I would hear Dad talking about keeping the chickens inside at night so the foxes wouldn't get them.

Thanks for sharing this fabric and your memories. The bird fabric has so many birds and all drawn really well. You’re right about the cutest being the fox. We live in the middle of a busy town but have many woodland animals including bunnies, deer, and fox. The fox is s favorite as it is so pretty and doesn’t eat our garden plants!

The confetti and foxes are my favourites. Yesterdays Amaryllis are so beautiful - I could imagine someone making a quilt with those colours, but not you - too muted would you say? haha. Lots more snow here the past 2 days but nothing like you have had - Brrrr ... stay warm :)

It is amazing how some fun fabric can trigger your early memories. Fabric is great- and it has no calories.

I love the watercolor effect on the fox fabric, in particular, the fern fronds. We had some mallards when I was a kid too. Their names (the drakes) were Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter. They never made it to the table while we lived there!!! They followed us around... thinking we were going to feed them some of the horse grain.

These are wonderful, whimsical fabrics. I know what you mean about fabrics calling to you. I try to cover my ears but sometimes they get through anyway.

I remember pheasant with buckshot too! what memories I remember eating racoon stew when kitchen was bare my parents came up with food to feed their extra large family.
love the fabric. I'm getting compliments on the low volume fabric that I bought from you on your last sale the newsprint type of fabric I am using in my star blocks.

The foxes are adorable. I'd have to do some serious fussy cutting or I'd be afraid I'd end up with a bunch of headless foxes in the quilt :-O And the confetti will be good with so many fabrics.

We don't have many foxes here. I think they are getting the worst of it with coyotes. Raccoons are the reason I don't get too serious thinking about getting chickens.

I agree your fox print is my favorite too. His eyes just pull you in..... Geese, ducks, pheasants, fun prints and adding your confetti Is a fun collection to have in your stash. I'm day dreaming as to what you might design with all. I've never seen prints like that, you always have so many fun surprises to share.

I smiled at your memory of the geese. My mother grew up on an Iowa farm, and told us that the only animal she was afraid of was the gander! Dot

So funny that you mentioned the buckshot in the pheasant meat. My dad was a pheasant hunter and I have vivid memories of gingerly consuming pheasant anticipating that piece of buckshot between my molars!

I saw a picture of a pheasant on Facebook yesterday and my mind immediately went to that sensation!

I bought those foxes on the soft gray background - they're marvelous. And I have fat quarters of some of the other fabrics from that line (it was a bundle). So glad you indulged yourself in fabrics that bring back memories (my mother was chased by their family's geese and she told stories much like yours).

Oh my gosh, a fabric with guinea hens! I might have to get that. That's a rare sighting on fabric!

I love the fabric. We had a gaggle of white geese when I was growing up. They were better than our farm dogs at keeping visitors at bay. When someone drove into our yard, they would come running and honking, and if we didn't call them off, they nipped at the visitor too. Our dogs would usually just look at the happenings from the cozy porch.

I think these fabrics are so cool! We lived next to a park for a few years and had Barred Owls. They would stand on the fence next to each other and call one another. The funniest thing! Your ducks reminded me of that.

How could you pass on that fabric??? Your memories are so much fun to read too.

We have a visiting fox - he/she keeps to the bottom of the garden but now there is snow on the ground I see the distinctive tracks under the bedroom window and up the side of the house made overnight. In spring cubs sometimes appear - the mating barks have been heard in recent days. And we enjoy pheasant in seaon - very healthy. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with these fabrics.

Thanks for sharing your memories that the fabric brought up. I have been hooked on Life Below Zero lately and going out to hunt for dinner like your Dad did is just not up my alley!
