No sewing..............

After a day of lots of sewing I didn't do any yesterday.  I had many other things to take care of.

My sister-in-law gave me one of the wax coated amaryllis bulbs again this year.  It has been out of the box about 4 days and there is a leaf and a bud both starting to peek out.

The orange cactus is starting to bloom.  I gave my daughter-in-law the other plant.  It was one small plant, a gift from a friend many years ago and it had gotten quite large so I split it into 2 plants a few years ago.  My DIL sent me a photo of hers blooming yesterday so they are in sync this year.  Usually mine blooms almost a month after hers.

I saw those wax coated ones in the Breck's catalogue...I've never had one...do you have to water them, too (I know that sounds like a silly question, but I wondered if it was self-watering??)
Anyway, maybe I will try one this year...My cacti (notice I now have more than one --yay!) is blooming--the white one is all budding out now (that is the old ones I put into a larger pot).
A day of rest is always good...hugs from expected snow country Julierose :()

At first I thought that was a vase. I didn't know they were sell wax coated ones. Does that make them store better, easier to care for, not need a pot, or ???

I have never heard of a wax coated amaryllis bulb before! Do they continue to flower as normal?

The orange cactus is so pretty. I was at a big box store and they had amaryllis bulbs - not with the wax - for $6.00. The poor things were pushing the lids open on the boxes. They didn't look all that healthy, so I didn't buy one. I can't wait to see what color your bulb is.

I’m always fascinated by the waxed amaryllis.
