Many things........

Yesterday I wanted to get back to cutting my Kaffe fabrics in 2.5" squares.  I had 45 more fabrics already pressed and cut into strips ready to cut so I got that accomplished.  Then I decided I needed to lay out one stack in color order so I can tell when I'm ready to do a colorwash with them.  The two rows on the right in the bottom tray are multicolor, no specific color could be determined.
When I finished that I decided I needed to look for backing for this top.  I found one that I have 6 yard of and it is hanging over the arm of the chair.  Then I took the top off the double design wall so I can start using it again.
My unfinished projects have been nagging me so I pulled this one out.  I had stacked the rows when they were on a single wall for several months.  I started piecing the blocks in August last year and played around with a design for them.  I think I need to make some more blocks to make it one row wider and maybe one row longer.  I'll start cutting them today out of some newer Marcia Derse fabric that I have purchased since last August.
Yesterday morning I noticed I had two tomatoes starting to turn red.  I decided I would leave them until later in the afternoon and then pick them before the critters come and take one bite out of them.  You notice there is only one here....yes, by the time I went back out to pick them there was a big bite out of the other one.  I'm pretty sure it is the squirrels that do it but overnight it could be opossums or raccoons.  I have lots of green tomatoes out there right now so I'll be keeping a good eye out for any change of color and let them ripen on the windowsill inside.

Your backing fabric looks perfect for your quilt. I have also been trying to finish some UFO's and start new ones too. Isn't there something you can put over the tomatoes to protect them ? Obviously I don't grow veggies.

My WIP s and UFOs are annoying me, too. Time for me to re-asess and prioritize. Your top looks so good in the photo today.

You have been busy! That backing looks perfect. I like those UFO blocks especially since they are different sizes.

I usually get bugs at my tomatoes if I leave them out too long but one day I found something had eaten half of a tomato and left the other half on the vine. I try to pick when they are orange too - I have not had good luck with my vegetables again this year and ready to pull out my cucumber and melon plants as nothing is there - plenty of blossoms but nothing every forms and I do have bees around - and whoever just gets one zucchini! usually you have so many you have to give them away - right now I have one zucchini growing and that is it

We did a container garden on the deck with tomatoes in one bucket. Our culprit was a squirrel taking bites from the tomatoes.

@Karen - you might have plenty of blossoms, but do you have plenty of female blossoms?

I too have started picking before fully red. I've also tried picking the pecked tomatoes and hoping they ripen before they attract gnats and rot, but have had not much success with that. It's such a disappointment to reach for that nice ripe tomato on the vine and grab YUCK!

Do you have a machine that cuts your squares? If so, what do you use? They are always so perfect. Love your sharing of your amazing gifts.

I have an apple tree that the squirrels love. In order to dissuade the critters from eating the apples, I put out peanuts on the fence. They like the nuts better than the apples. I don't know if my idea will help you, but I thought I'd mention it.

That backing fabric IS perfect! Altogether very pretty quilt. I like where the drunkard's path is heading, too. I am so glad you still have things to say after ten years, because I enjoy seeing and reading what you're doing!

The backing fabric looks perfect for the project. Sorry about the bite out of your tomato. I hope the critter enjoyed it since you couldn't. --Andrea

A great photo of your Kaffe top up on the wall and lucky you had the yardage needed for the backing fabric. Fresh tomatoes from the garden - mouthwatering!

I LOVE those circles. Just beautiful.

Last year we lost every tomato to raccoons. It was beyond frustrating.

Wanda, your quilts are so lovely. I so enjoy seeing how you put them together (and how quickly). Until I began reading your blog, I didn't even know about Marcia Derse fabric; I'd love to know where you find it.
