Prep work......again..........

While I had the big roll of batting out I did some pairing of tops, batting and backing.  I am going to quilt this one on my straight stitch Babylock machine.  Here is the full view of it in my monthly recap for November 2014.  You can click on the photo for a closer look.  Here is the book that has the quilt that inspired me.

All I have to do is piece the backs and then I can proceed to finishing all of these.

Bugs have munched on most of the blooms on the Rose of Sharon but here is one that is pretty much intact.

We ended up with 3.85" of rain in 12 hours starting on Friday night.  We got through the rest of the day yesterday without any rain.  My granddaughter was happy because they had a thank you party for all of us that helped with cleaning and painting their house so they could move back from North Dakota a year ago.  The kids were happy outside but it was too hot and sticky for me so I stayed inside with many others.

I remember you sewing that zig zag quilt and I bought the book after you mentioned it - I've still not made the quilt yet though :) Sounds like it is very wet out your way but I expect the flowers would have enjoyed a good drink, especially the tomatoes, if the critters have left you any?

I like the variety in this zig zag quilt......an eye catcher! The humidity is like a wet curtain that covers everything around here. We haven't had the rain....that's a huge amount you had. Just hot.

looks like you are catching up with the quilt tops you show hanging in the closet! My Rose of Sharon has grown about a foot this year, very thin though, I wonder if I should prune it a little to encourage it to grow more branches and not just grow straight up. We could have used some of that rain that you got!

We got a rain during the night but other areas one hour north got a big storm, cutting off our electricity for miles around. It came on just as my coffee urge was getting out of control. My Rose of Sharon have grown to about 14' high now in about 7 years and are like a tree, not bushes. Yours is very pretty.

It is a good start to get the backings paired up and the batting cut. You will have a few more completed quilts before you know it. I really like the zig zag top. I had been thinking about making one similar to that, but I just haven't gotten around to it.
