Students' layouts

Here are some of the layouts that were tried at the class yesterday. This first student is making a queen sized quilt so there wasn't room to layout the whole quilt. Her daughter will help her make the final decision.Oops! the top right corner in the picture below is turned the wrong way. I didn't catch that before I took a picture.

This red, white and blue one was one of many layouts she tried and I didn't get a picture of her final layout, the star. She got her top all sewn together in class. Below are just some of her light blocks.
The rose and green is coming along nicely. She has a lot more strip sets to sew.
While I was helping some of the other students, the turquoise/orange lady played with several layouts. She liked my red/blue one and wanted to try a similar style.

She liked the star too but didn't have enough blocks. I suggested filling in the blanks with her turquoise large print that is in the strips.
This layout is like my purple/yellow one that was in the book (Fractured Pansies). The fifth student was babysitting and couldn't make it to class. I hope I get to see hers when she finishes it.

These are really nice layouts. It's funny how sometimes you don't notice a block that's turned the wrong way until you take a picture. I have finally learned to always take a picture (or six) of my blocks laid out before I sew them together just because it works so well to catch the oops before it's sewn.

It looks like they have all done such a great job on their blocks. I really love the numerous layouts that come from such a simple design.

Oh, how fun! I would love to take your classes. Even your students' quilts are beautiful. You must be a great instructor.

I like that 5th layout, something about the colors makes it look like it is floating or something.

What wonderful effects you can get with that blocks! Some are really spectacular.

The other thing that I noticed is that I don't get the full effect of the pattern when I look at the pictures within your blog page. When I look at the first picture, made smaller, and in the preview of the blog on my feed, I get a much better idea of the overall effect. You need to really step back to be able to see the whole pattern emerge.

Your studends are doing lovely work and learning so much! Sure wish I lived close enought to take one of your classes myself!

I keep bugging my library for this book, but so far they have not found a copy. So your post has me ready to go to the library again... bug, bug, bug.

Lovely results. You are a great teacher!

Everyone of your students has selected great fabric choices to make their blocks. What ever layout they choose will be the right one. I enjoyed seeing all of their layouts.

These are all nice layouts. So I think, the students have to make more than one quilt...how can you just like one layout. LOL

I so enjoy seeing all the student layouts. As I've been sorting my stash for another project, I am thinking what will work together as strips, and as disappearing nine-patch...thanks for sharing.

It is so fun to see all the different layouts. Your students did a lot of sewing to get so many blocks done. Congratulations on another good class.

I can't get over how different they all look. I love the star, and the last one, and the colours in the first one. Good thing I wasn't in the class, I'd be playing with layouts for ever, and never get the quilt made.

I would normally not go for a brwon and green combo, but that first picture is very striking. Very.
