We had rain almost all day yesterday. I had to drive to church (23 miles) for our sewing circle to work on the preemie layettes for the hospital. Afterwards I went to Farm and Fleet looking for a shirt for my dad. He likes snaps instead of buttons and they carry the western style there. I only found about 6 size Med. shirts to decide between. They had lots of Large Tall, XL, XXL, 2 XL and most all tall. (My dad is 5'8" tall and weighs less than 150 pounds.) I haven't been able to find shirts with snaps anywhere else this year. Last year W*lmart had them. Now I have to hope he will like the one I picked out. He doesn't like bright colors or stripes so that eliminated 3 of the 6.

Setting triangle audition
This is the fabric I want to use for the setting triangle for this Strips That Sizzle quilt. I only have 3/4 yard of it so I am going to figure out today whether I have enough of it. Here is a closer picture of it. What you can't see here is the sheen. It is a sateen fabric that is more than 10 years old.

the eggplant and saffron combination remains my all-time favorite and I am so drawn to what you are doing here!!!! Beautiful - love the 'vintage' fabric!
It's hard to pick out clothes for someone else. I do hope he likes the one you chose.
Your Strips that Sizzle quilt really does sizzle!
The colors and the layout are fantastic! That print is the perfect compliment. I hope your dad likes the shirts!
Wow, that fabric adds amazing depth to the quilt!
That fabric will be a knockout on the quilt. WOW!
What a great choice for the setting triangles!! That is so gorgeous -- makes me think of blueberry crumble!

Oh, tell me about it.....*L* My dad has ONE fave style and color of shirt, and it's almost impossible to find anymore. If only we had bought a dozen or so a few years ago.
Hope you have enough fabric as it looks great.
Did Dad like his shirt?? Sure hope so.
I had to enlarge first photo... your choice is perfect for setting this piece. Have you ever had to buy fabric to finish a piece? Seems you always can pull a piece from your stash to go with whatever project you have going.

I think that fabric is perfect for the quilt. I hope you have enough. The things we will do for our parents!!! I used to say the things we would do for our kids, but that changes!!! I'm going today to buy 11 Halloween cards, 2 wedding cards, and a birthday card, plus gifts for the weddings and birthday for my mom to send, but guess what, she can't even sign her name anymore, so it's up to me. I'd better get started.
Love that fabric! Hope you have enough! And hope Dad liked the shirt!
Wow, Wanda,
Great choice for setting triangles. Crossing fingers you have enough to go around.
My husband still has a couple of the snap shirts he picked up in the 80's (flannel version). Those snaps seem to hold up fine.
