The daylight coming in the west windows of my studio show off the quilting better than overhead lights at night.
I finished all of the quilting yesterday afternoon and got the quilt trimmed last night. There is ditch quilting top to bottom and side to side along the edges of the 4 patches, 5" apart.
I cut 4.5" strips for the top and bottom borders of the zig zag quilt top. I wasn't sure how wide to cut it and figured if I thought it was too wide, I can cut it down.
We haven't had any measurable rain for 2 weeks. Even though there were light showers last Wednesday, there was only a trace in the bottom of the rain gauge. There is some in the forecast for Saturday when it is close to 90 and rising dew points. I'll believe it when I see it.

What a pretty and colorful quilt! We've had a couple weeks without rain also, getting a bit crispy with no rain until next weekend forecast.
The quilting looks great! The width of the border for the top and bottom for the zig zag quilt looks just right. Once it is sewn on, a bit will be lost and a bit will be covered with the binding so 3 1/2" showing seems good. No rain here or in the forecast. I am going to have to go water my plants so they don't die of thirst! I had a lot of new coneflower plants come up and I don't want them to dry out and die.
Lovely quilting on this vibrant quilt, Wanda;))) Nice, too, that you are getting that pretty Zig-Zag piece all together...
61 here, but strangely chilly...overcast skies--hoping for some rain here, too...Hope your weekend is a good one...hugs, Julierose
Your quilting looks great…..simple and lets the fabrics shine. I think the border width is good…..funny how you stared with the greens and added the b/w fabric and now it’s pretty much the star of the quilt ;-)
We had 3/4 of an inch earlier this week, the first measurable rain since the beginning of August. Not looking forward to the water bill!
I AM looking forward to seeing the beauty you are currently quilting as a finished piece. The quilting is perfect for the colors and shapes.

Oh Wanda ~ what terrific quilting on this quilt…I can see the hours it took to quilt it all… I agree with Cherie Moore…”it lets the fabric shine”. Your dotted borders certainly completes your ‘zig-zag’ top.
Two lovely quilts—have enjoyed seeing them grow! -Roxanne
I think the border width looks pretty good really showing those zigzags off. The quilt your finished looks great - is that a light yellow thread whatever color it is it blends well. We have had no rain either now for awhile and close to going back into a drought like usual at this time of year.
Love how you've quilted that first one. Very effective!
Absolutely stunning! Warm greetings from Montreal, Canada.
